Stock Analysis
Viewing insider transactions for Orora Limited's (ASX:ORA ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net sellers. This means that a larger number of shares were sold by insiders in relation to shares purchased.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Orora
The CEO, MD & Director, Brian Lowe, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$393k worth of shares at a price of AU$2.62 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of AU$2.43. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive). The only individual insider seller over the last year was Brian Lowe.
Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 120.43k shares worth AU$301k. But they sold 150.00k shares for AU$393k. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Orora Insiders Are Selling The Stock
Over the last three months, we've seen notably more insider selling, than insider buying, at Orora. We note CEO, MD & Director Brian Lowe cashed in AU$393k worth of shares. Meanwhile insiders bought AU$127k worth. Because the selling vastly outweighs the buying, we'd say this is a somewhat bearish sign.
Insider Ownership
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Our data indicates that Orora insiders own about AU$9.5m worth of shares (which is 0.3% of the company). Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!
What Might The Insider Transactions At Orora Tell Us?
Unfortunately, there has been more insider selling of Orora stock, than buying, in the last three months. Zooming out, the longer term picture doesn't give us much comfort. When you combine this with the relatively low insider ownership, we are very cautious about the stock. We'd certainly practice some caution before buying!
