Ardiden (ASX:ADV) Is Doing The Right Things To Multiply Its Share Price

What are the early trends we should look for to identify a stock that could multiply in value over the long term? Ideally, a business will show two trends; firstly a growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and secondly, an increasing amount of capital employed. Basically this means that a company has profitable initiatives that it can continue to reinvest in, which is a trait of a compounding machine. So on that note, Ardiden (ASX:ADV) looks quite promising in regards to its trends of return on capital.

Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?

For those that aren't sure what ROCE is, it measures the amount of pre-tax profits a company can generate from the capital employed in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for Ardiden:

Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)

0.14 = AU$4.4m ÷ (AU$32m - AU$85k) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024).

So, Ardiden has an ROCE of 14%. On its own, that's a standard return, however it's much better than the 8.3% generated by the Metals and Mining industry.

What Can We Tell From Ardiden's ROCE Trend?

Ardiden has recently broken into profitability so their prior investments seem to be paying off. The company was generating losses five years ago, but now it's earning 14% which is a sight for sore eyes. And unsurprisingly, like most companies trying to break into the black, Ardiden is utilizing 150% more capital than it was five years ago. This can tell us that the company has plenty of reinvestment opportunities that are able to generate higher returns.

In Conclusion...

In summary, it's great to see that Ardiden has managed to break into profitability and is continuing to reinvest in its business. Considering the stock has delivered 4.7% to its stockholders over the last five years, it may be fair to think that investors aren't fully aware of the promising trends yet. So with that in mind, we think the stock deserves further research.
