Kingsgate Consolidated Restarts Chatree Plant 1 With Partial Capacity After Mechanical Failure Kingsgate Consolidated has restarted Plant 1 at its Chatree Gold Mine in Thailand after a mechanical failure, restoring about 50% of the plant’s normal processing capacity through a modified circuit while repairs to the main ball mill continue.
The company reports that a semi-autogenous grinding mill is now back online and that changes to mine sequencing and stockpile management have allowed mining and production to continue during the incident.
Kingsgate Consolidated shares last traded at A$4.23, with the stock down 26.7% year to date despite a recent rebound.
This update reduces immediate operational uncertainty around Chatree, but the ongoing repair work on the main ball mill keeps some execution risk in play, particularly if timelines or costs around full capacity restoration prove challenging. Announcement • Jul 13
Kingsgate Consolidated Limited Halts Plant 1 Operations At Chatree Gold Mine Due to Mechanical Failure Kingsgate Consolidated Limited advised that a significant mechanical failure has occurred on Plant 1 of the Chatree Gold Mine in Thailand. The incident occurred late on July 10, 2026 and resulted in the controlled shutdown of the Plant 1 ball mill after operators identified elevated bearing temperatures. Preliminary inspections have identified a failure of the ball mill trunnion bearings, with associated damage to the trunnion journals. The root cause of the failure remains under investigation. Initial indications suggest that a lubrication system event may have contributed to the failure, however this has not yet been confirmed. Plant 1, with a nameplate processing capacity of 2.3 million tonnes per annum, has been taken offline while the Company undertakes a detailed technical assessment. Immediately following the incident, Kingsgate mobilised its processing and maintenance teams and engaged the original equipment manufacturer, Metso, to provide technical assistance. Metso representatives are expected to arrive on site July 13, 2026, with repair planning and remediation activities already underway. The Company is assessing a number of repair alternatives, including refurbishment of the existing trunnion bearings from local and international providers, together with restoration of the damaged trunnion journals. Kingsgate is also evaluating operating alternatives that may allow limited processing through Plant 1 during the repair period, subject to technical assessment. Mining operations continue uninterrupted, and Plant 2, which has a nameplate processing capacity of 2.7 million tonnes per annum and accounts for the majority of Chatree's gold production, remains fully operational. The Company is currently assessing the operational and financial impact of the outage and will provide further market updates once the repair methodology, expected downtime and any impact on production guidance have been confirmed.
