Fresenius Kabi Launches Generic Sugammadex Injection In Simplist Ready-To-Administer Prefilled Syringe In The U.S

Fresenius Kabi announced the U.S. launch of the FDA-approved generic Sugammadex Injection. Offering Sugammadex in a prefilled syringe further expands the use of the Simplist portfolio into operating rooms. Simplist single-dose, prefilled syringes require no assembly at the point of care, help streamline medication management, and eliminate steps where errors can occur. Sugammadex injection is indicated for the reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by rocuronium bromide and vecuronium bromide in adult and pediatric patients aged 2 years and older undergoing surgery. Fresenius Kabi offers Sugammadex in the following product presentation: 200 mg per 2 mL Simplist prefilled syringe. Sugammadex Injection is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Sugammadex or any of its components. Anaphylaxis: Be prepared for hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylactic reactions) and take necessary precautions. Marked Bradycardia: Cases of marked bradycardia, some of which have resulted in cardiac arrest, have been observed within minutes after administration. Monitor for hemodynamic changes and administer anticholinergic agents such as atropine if clinically significant bradycardia is observed. Respiratory Function Monitoring: Ventilatory support is mandatory until adequate spontaneous respiration is restored and the ability to maintain a patent airway is assured. Provide adequate ventilation if neuromuscular blockade persists after Sugammadex Injection or recurs following extubation. Waiting Times for Re-Administration of Neuromuscular Blocking Agents: If re-administration of neuromuscular blocking agent is required after reversal with Sugammadex Injection, waiting times should be based on the dose of Sugammadex Injection, and the renal function of the patient. Consider use of a nonsteroidal neuromuscular blocking agent. Most common adverse reactions (reported in =10% of adult patients at a 2, 4, or 16 mg/kg Sugammadex Injection dose and higher than the placebo rate): vomiting, pain, nausea, hypotension, and headache. An undisclosed institutional investors entered into an agreement to acquire 2.90% stake in Fresenius Medical Care AG (XTRA:FME) from Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA (XTRA:FRE) for approximately €300 million.

An undisclosed institutional investors entered into an agreement to acquire 2.90% stake in Fresenius Medical Care AG (XTRA:FME) from Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA (XTRA:FRE) for approximately €300 million on August 20, 2026. As part of consideration, €300 million is paid towards common equity of Fresenius Medical Care AG. Through the sale of 7.8 million shares worth approximately €300 million to selected institutional investors, Fresenius further strengthens its balance sheet and increases its strategic flexibility. The net proceeds will reduce Group net debt and be available for future investment. In 2025, the company sold a significant amount of its stake in Fresenius Medical Care. Fresenius will continue to assess and manage its remaining holding over time subject to market conditions, capital allocation priorities, applicable lock-up arrangements and in line with Future Fresenius. Fresenius remains subject to a lock-up on its remaining shares of up to 45 days. At the time of the deconsolidation in 2023, Fresenius held 32.2 per cent of Fresenius Medical Care’s share capital. In March 2025, Fresenius raised gross proceeds of approximately €1.1 billion through a combined offering of shares in an accelerated book building and bonds exchangeable into Fresenius Medical Care shares maturing in 2028. Fresenius retained approximately 28.6 per cent following this first sell-down. In August 2025, Fresenius Medical Care initiated a series of share buyback programs alongside which Fresenius sold shares on a pro rata basis, to approximately maintain its stake. In August 2026, Fresenius placed additional 7.8 million shares with institutional investors. Following this transaction, Fresenius holds approximately 25.0 per cent[1] and remains the largest shareholder.
