River Valley Community Bancorp and River Valley Community Bank Announce Board Retirements, Effective December 31, 2024 River Valley Community Bancorp with its wholly owned subsidiary, River Valley Community Bank (collectively referred to as the “Bank”), announced upcoming retirements for Directors John I. Jelavich and Joseph M. Griggs. The effective date of both retirements is December 31, 2024. John I. Jelavich was the Bank’s founding President & CEO and a founding member of the Banks’s Board of Directors. Mr. Jelavich retired from his management capacity with the Bank in April 2014, which culminated an impactful 45 year career in banking. Since then, Mr. Jelavich has remained an active and contributing member of the Bank’s Board of Directors. Joseph M. Griggs served on the Bank’s Board of Directors since January 1, 2014 when he joined in conjunction with the opening of the Bank’s Grass Valley Branch. Mr. Griggs is a second-generation logger in northern California and in 2011, he became President of Robinson Enterprises, a diversified logging, trucking and petroleum services company. Mr. Griggs has played a key role on the Bank’s Directors Loan Committee and has been instrumental in helping to market the Bank throughout Nevada County. In addition to his professional background, Mr. Eager has agricultural and business interests in Sutter and Yuba counties. His local roots and experience positioned him well for having an impactful role on the Bank’s Board. River Valley Community Bancorp and River Valley Community Bank Appoint Liesl Schmidt as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer River Valley Community Bancorp with its wholly owned subsidiary, River Valley Community Bank (Bank) announced the appointment of Liesl Schmidt as its Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. In her role, Ms. Schmidt will oversee the Bank’s Branch Operations, Information Technology and Human Resource functions. Ms. Schmidt has a diverse background in finance, operational and process improvement, strategy, human resources and employee engagement, as well as risk management with a unique emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Prior to joining River Valley Community Bank, she was an Executive Vice President, Regional Executive at U.S. Bank, NA where she led a sizable portion of the bank’s team across ten western states. Ms. Schmidt started her banking career in Northern California where she led commercial and operational banking teams for many years. She has extensive experience in client services, commercial relationship management and consultation, credit/risk analysis, and debt structuring for companies across multiple industries. Ms. Schmidt is a NACD Certified Director, having governance and oversight experience serving on many non-profit boards. Ms. Schmidt is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Asian Division, with a BS in Business Administration and Pacific Coast Banking School’s Graduate School of Banking at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA.
