Chubb has an edge over Zurich because it is more amenable to leaving control with India's Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (BSE:500247) and because Kotak believes it shares more common business areas with Chubb such as auto insurance, according to one of the people. Zurich has been discussing a stake of either 49% or 51% and the majority stake would likely value the company at around $800 million, the sources have previously said. But if Chubb were to win out, the deal would value Kotak at less than $800 million as it would not include a so-called buyout premium, they said. Kotak, one of India's smaller general insurance firms, has been looking to sell a stake to achieve faster growth in a market seen as having huge potential. It is controlled by Uday Kotak, who is Asia's richest banker worth $14 billion according to Forbes. Kotak General Insurance continues to have discussions with Zurich, though separate talks with private equity firm The Carlyle Group Inc. (NasdaqGS:CG) have not worked out, the people added. They were not authorised to speak to media and declined to be identified. Chubb and Kotak did not respond to Reuters queries seeking comment. Zurich and Carlyle declined to comment.お知らせ • Jun 15Zurich Insurance Eyes $400-Million Stake in Kotak General InsuranceZurich Insurance Group AG (SWX:ZURN) is in talks to buy up to 51% of Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Company Limited, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said, a deal that would mark its first major bet on the fast-growing South Asian insurance market. Backed by Asia's richest banker Uday Kotak, the early-stage negotiations value the Indian company at around $800 million, and Zurich Insurance has expresed interest in both a minority stake of 49% or taking up a majority 51% stake, the sources said. The stake the Swiss insurer wants to secure will be worth around $400 million, they said. A spokesperson for Zurich, one of Europe's largest insurers, said "as a matter of principle, we don't comment on market rumours and speculations." Kotak General Insurance, which is fully-owned by Indian banking giant Kotak Mahindra Bank, did not respond to Reuters queries. お知らせ • Jul 26Chubb Reportedly in Talks to Buy 49% Stake in Kotak General InsuranceChubb Limited (NYSE:CB) is in talks to acquire a 49% stake in India's Kotak General Insurance and has become a more favoured suitor than Zurich Insurance Group (ZURN.S), two people with direct knowledge of the discussions said. Zurich and Carlyle declined to comment.
お知らせ • Jun 15Zurich Insurance Eyes $400-Million Stake in Kotak General InsuranceZurich Insurance Group AG (SWX:ZURN) is in talks to buy up to 51% of Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Company Limited, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said, a deal that would mark its first major bet on the fast-growing South Asian insurance market. While the Kotak insurance unit's interest in selling a stake has been reported earlier, its talks with Zurich, the potential deal size and valuation are being reported for the first time.

お知らせ • Jan 05Suncorp Reportedly Eyes Zurich Local ArmSuncorp Group Limited (ASX:SUN) has informally approached Zurich Insurance Group AG (SWX:ZURN) to gauge whether the company would revisit a sale of its local general insurance arm, as the financial services group considers bulking up despite the divestment of its bank hanging in the balance. Sources close to the moves told The Australian on 05 January 2023 that Suncorp sought preliminary discussions about making an offer for Zurich's Australian general insurance arm, to pry the unit loose. The Australian is not suggesting a bid was made, just that Suncorp initiated an informal approach. A Suncorp spokesman declined to comment, while a Zurich spokesman said the company had a policy not to comment on any potential deal activity.
