In the financial year to September 30, 2021, Tower Insurance (PNG) Limited net profit after tax was AUD 0.8 million. As at September 30, 2021, it had net assets of AUD 4.23 million. The transaction is subject to receipt of clearance or authorisation from the Independent Consumer & Competition Commission in Papua New Guinea and any approval necessary under the Insurance Act 1995 (Papua New Guinea). It is also subject to Alpha Insurance obtaining finance to complete the purchase in Australian dollars and Tower obtaining all necessary internal approvals. The sale is expected to occur in FY22. Ms McBride has extensive governance and technology industry experience having performed senior leadership roles internationally with SAP, Dell and IBM. Ms McBride is the founder and CEO of MyWave, a software and services company developing consumer and enterprise relationship solutions using personal cloud technologies. She also sits on the Board of Sky Network Television Limited. Ms McBride's appointment will be effective on 1 October. Ms McBride will retire at the Annual Shareholder Meeting in February 2023 and be eligible for re-election. In June Warren Lee advised the Board of his intention to retire from the Tower Board. Mr. Lee's retirement will be effective from 30 November 2022.
