Soracom Announces Soracom Air RTC Gateway Service Soracom, Inc. announced Soracom Air RTC Gateway, a service that connects voice from IoT devices to a customer's existing contact center, VoIP provider, or AI agent. The cloud service receives a device's standard cellular voice (VoLTE) over Soracom Air and routes each call to its destination using SIM and device information, with no device-side software or voice application development required. Soracom Air RTC Gateway receives a device's standard cellular voice in the cloud and routes each call by SIM and device identity, such as SIM group and tags, to the right destination. Because it works with any IMS/VoLTE-capable module, voice is used as a standard device function with no special software or voice application on the device, and calls are secured by SIM authentication rather than separately managed credentials. Voice travels from the device to Soracom over VoLTE through the secure Soracom Air path, where the gateway converts it to VoIP. From there it reaches an external VoIP provider over the internet, or, through a Soracom Virtual Private Gateway, a private connection to enterprise extensions, contact centers, or an AI agent on an IP PBX in the customer's cloud. Connected to a voice AI, it can handle around-the-clock first-response intake and then hand the call to a human agent. Combined with eSIM Profile Order, which remotely installs a Soracom connectivity profile onto eSIM-capable devices and smartphones, and a Virtual Private Gateway, the service can also turn a corporate device into an internal office extension with secure access to company systems from outside the office. Soracom Air RTC Gateway applies across industrial equipment, social infrastructure, mobility, and office work. Use cases include remote support for construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery; fault reporting and emergency calls from elevators and security systems; nurse-call and telemedicine voice assistance from medical and care devices; support-center connections from connected vehicles; automated voice response through AI agents; and extension calling from corporate devices with secure access to internal systems. Soracom, Inc. Introduces Cloud-Native Mobile Core Platform For Mobile Network Operators and MVNOs Soracom, Inc. announced the expansion of its business with the launch of a cloud-native mobile core platform for mobile network operators (MNOs) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs). Soracom built its mobile core in software optimized for public cloud infrastructure from the company's founding in 2014, running core network functions including the Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Packet Gateway (PGW), User Plane Function (UPF), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core as cloud-native services rather than on traditional carrier hardware. Soracom makes that core, along with other platform components, available to operators that want to run their own mobile services without building and maintaining core network infrastructure of their own. The business targets MNOs, MVNOs and enterprises serving as MVNOs for their customers globally. Soracom has already proven this model in live commercial deployments through Misora Connect, Inc., a Soracom group company established with the Marubeni I-DIGIO Group that provides MVNO services in Japan. Soracom migrated Misora Connect's HSS onto Soracom's cloud-native mobile core, and that deployment serves Misora Connect's customers. For operators, running services on Soracom's mobile core can reduce the infrastructure cost of standing up and maintaining a core network and enable them to expand breakout locations globally without significant upfront cost. It also gives operators more flexibility in how they design and price service plans. In addition to expanding their core network with cloud native software components, operators can offer services and functionalities that enable enterprise customers to build secure cloud integrations and leverage cloud capabilities from their connected products and IoT devices as optional add-ons. This new MVNE business extends a pattern of Soracom enabling other companies to build connectivity businesses on its platform. Customers that want to resell Soracom connectivity and services to their own customers can do so through the multitenancy and downstream billing capabilities of the Soracom Billing Platform, which support tenant management, branded invoicing, and multi-tier reseller billing within a single account, and seamlessly integrates with Soracom Connectivity Management Platform. Where Soracom provides the mobile core to operators running their own networks, the Soracom Billing Platform's capabilities let Soracom customers package and bill connectivity to downstream customers under their own brand. Soracom Announces Commercial Availability Of SGP.32-Compatible Iot Esims And Connectivity Hypervisor Esim Orchestration Capability Soracom announced the commercial availability of its Connectivity Hypervisor eSIM orchestration capability and SGP.32-compatible IoT eSIMs. Both are now available for purchase, moving Soracom's SGP.32-based offering from pre-order to general availability. SGP.32 is GSMA’s latest remote SIM provisioning standard for IoT. Its predecessors took two different approaches. First, SGP.02 was designed at telco initiative primarily for automotive, but preserved carrier control over provisioning, with enterprises able to manage profiles in theory but within a walled garden that kept operators firmly in the loop. Second, SGP.22 moved control closer to the device owner but assumed user interfaces that most unattended IoT devices simply do not have. SGP.32 addresses both limitations. The new technology supports headless, always-on devices while giving enterprises genuine, carrier-independent control over which profiles run on their devices and when. For products with long service lives, such as vehicles, utility meters, asset trackers, and connected medical devices, that shift from telco-controlled to owner-controlled provisioning has become a common requirement in enterprise and automotive procurement. Connectivity Hypervisor is Soracom's technology-leading eUICC orchestration capability, which allows users to add, remove, manage, and switch between multiple operator profiles, including third-party MNO profiles, on remote SIMs/eSIMs using SGP.32 eSIM IoT Manager (eIM). Connectivity Hypervisor provides an API for Remote SIM Provisioning and integrates with Soracom's automation services and framework so that the user can automate RSP based on deployment region, regulatory requirement, or application need. Built-in Soracom-profile fallback ensures that devices retain connectivity in cases where a target profile is unavailable. Because one SKU can be manufactured and shipped worldwide, customers can switch profiles in the field to meet permanent-roaming requirements as deployments cross borders. For official Soracom partner operators' profiles that are integrated with Soracom Connectivity Management Platform, it offers SIM profile life cycle management, data usage monitoring and fleet management features such as searching based on tags and groups in the same way as Soracom native profiles. At Soracom Discovery 2026, the company's annual conference, Soracom demonstrated the next release of Connectivity Hypervisor, which enables unified management of connections from multiple operators, including major MNOs, through a single control plane. This capability is fully built; broader availability to end customers is pending partner operators completing their profile integrations for resale through the Soracom platform. Soracom, Inc. Announces Appointment of Richard Halliday to Chief Executive Officer, Americas, Effective June 1, 2026 Soracom, Inc. named Richard Halliday Chief Executive Officer, Americas. Halliday assumed the role effective June 1, 2026. As Chief Executive Officer, Americas, Halliday led Soracom’s business across the region, including its sales, partnerships, and technical services teams. He directed the company’s go-to-market strategy in the Americas. Halliday brought more than 30 years of experience building and scaling technology businesses across industrial manufacturing, global distribution, and IoT connectivity. At Illinois Tool Works he held full profit-and-loss responsibility for multiple business units. He later shaped product strategy for a global distribution business with more than $1 billion in revenue at Premier Farnell. At Digi International, as Vice President of Channel Sales and Alliances, he rebuilt the company’s go-to-market model into a partner-led growth engine. Halliday joined Soracom in 2022 to lead partnerships in the Americas, later taking responsibility for all Americas sales and technical services and driving rapid growth in the region. He held a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Colgate University.
