Dow: Equipped To Survive The Downcycle

Summary Dow Inc. is upgraded to Buy as geopolitical supply shocks and a major legal windfall have de-risked its balance sheet and dividend. DOW benefits from North American ethane-based production as global oil-linked costs rise, widening integrated margins and driving record polyethylene sales growth. Cost-cutting initiatives, including $1B in annual savings and European asset rationalization, are ahead of schedule, structurally lowering DOW's breakeven and enhancing future operating leverage. Valuation is attractive: DOW trades at low multiples on depressed EBITDA, with normalization and cost savings potentially compressing EV/EBITDA to 5–6x versus historical 7–8x. DOW: Tightening Supply And Cost Savings Will Support Stronger Future Earnings Power

For Dow, the analyst fair value estimate has been revised from $48.00 to $51.00 as analysts factor in both lower Street price targets tied to chemical pricing pressure and supply outlook, as well as offsetting support from recent upgrades that highlight potential relief from oversupply and ongoing cost savings efforts. Analyst Commentary Recent Street research on Dow highlights a split picture, with some firms trimming price targets on chemical pricing concerns while other bullish analysts point to improving supply conditions, cost savings progress, and upgraded views on the stock.
