Marine Systems (TKMS)
At an extraordinary general meeting on August 8, 2025, ThyssenKrupp shareholders approved the spin-off of the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems division into a new independent company. The plan is for 49% of TKMS shares to be transferred directly to existing ThyssenKrupp shareholders, while ThyssenKrupp will retain 51%. The most likely start date for the spin-off (i.e., the transfer of part of the ownership and separate listing) is October 2025.
TKMS claims to be the global market leader in non-nuclear submarines, but it also builds frigates and corvettes. The company employs approximately 8,300 people and is headquartered in Kiel. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems significantly increased its order intake year-on-year in the first half of 2024/2025 and substantially improved its profitability.
Paul Glaser, CFO of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems: "Our order backlog provides us with long-term visibility and predictability and puts us in an excellent position to significantly increase our sales in the future. At the same time, we have structurally and sustainably improved our profitability in recent years. We were able to demonstrate this once again in the first half of the current fiscal year. We are continuing our work and firmly expect to maintain the positive trend and further increase our profit margin."
