OptiBiotix Health plc Announces Commencement of Clinical Study with Hull University Teaching Hospital Nhs Trust OptiBiotix Health plc announced the commencement of a clinical study with Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust to determine the effect of taking WellBiome on cardiac surgery outcomes and potential NHS cost savings. A number of studies (Ardema 2019, Xia 2021) have suggested a decrease in microbial diversity and abundance post-surgery may increase hospital stays and that prebiotics like WellBiome, which increase microbial diversity and abundance and have systemic anti-inflammatory effects, may improve surgical outcomes. This double blind, placebo-controlled study of up to 60 patients is designed to evaluate the effect of six-week pre-operative supplementation on time spent in intensive care, length of hospital stay, and the incidence of post-operative complications. The study includes a cost savings analysis to identify any potential cost savings to the NHS and inform the future use of prebiotic like WellBiome in improving health outcomes and cost savings. WellBiome is a patented mineral-enriched prebiotic fibre complex developed in collaboration with leading UK Universities to enhance gut microbiome diversity greater than single prebiotic fibres alone. WellBiome has a number of European and USA on pack health claims including: Nourishes beneficial bacteria throughout the entire gut to improve gut health; Contributes to improved bone health by aiding the absorption of essential minerals; Contributes to normal muscle function, including heart muscle; Supports normal brain health function and memory; Contributes to normal psychological function; Supports cardiovascular health; Contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue. New minor risk - Share price stability The company's share price has been volatile over the past 3 months. It is more volatile than 75% of British stocks, typically moving 8.4% a week. This is considered a minor risk. Share price volatility indicates the stock is highly sensitive to market conditions or economic conditions rather than being sensitive to its own business performance, which may also be inconsistent. It also increases the risk of potential losses in the short term as the stock tends to have larger drops in price more frequently than other stocks. Currently, the following risks have been identified for the company: Major Risk Earnings have declined by 64% per year over the past 5 years. Minor Risks Share price has been volatile over the past 3 months (8.4% average weekly change). Revenue is less than US$5m (UK£1.2m revenue, or US$1.5m). New major risk - Market cap size The company's market capitalization is less than US$10m. Market cap: UK£7.49m (US$9.97m) This is considered a major risk. Companies with a small market capitalization are most likely businesses that have not yet released a product to market or are simply a very small company without a wide reach. Either way, risk is elevated with these companies because there is a chance the product may not come to fruition or the company's addressable market or demand may not be as large as expected. In addition, if the company's size is the main factor, it is less likely to have many investors and analysts following it and scrutinizing its performance and outlook. Currently, the following risks have been identified for the company: Major Risks Earnings have declined by 64% per year over the past 5 years. Market cap is less than US$10m (UK£7.49m market cap, or US$9.97m). Minor Risk Revenue is less than US$5m (UK£1.2m revenue, or US$1.5m). Announcement • Nov 24
OptiBiotix Health Plc Provides Update on its SweetBiotix Product Range for New and Existing Investors OptiBiotix Health plc provided an overview and update on its SweetBiotix product range for new and existing investors. SweetBiotix®? are a portfolio of natural, sweet, high fibre, low-calorie products developed to replace sugar and sugar substitutes. They are produced using a patented technology developed by OptiBiotix which enzymatically modifies existing natural sweeteners like steviol glycosides and mogrosides and converts them into dietary fibres, providing sweetness with added nutritional and health benefits. SweetBiotix are trademarked and patented products protected by a significant intellectual property portfolio comprising over 25 patents with a number of recent additional filings. Patients must demonstrate novelty/uniqueness, inventiveness (i.e. no one else has invented it), and industry applicability confirming the uniqueness of SweetBiotix. SweetBiotix are unique as a sugar substitute as they have been developed to overcome health concerns, are high in fibre, and have prebiotic functionality providing nutritional and health benefits not present in existing products. This a market estimated to be worth $29.9 billion by 2029 (Markets and Markets: Oct 2024). What is the evidence that SweetBiotix are sweet and have health benefits SweetBiotix products have been tested by academic groups who have published five papers in peer reviewed journals providing an independent assessment of SweetBiotix's taste and health benefits. One publication on an early SweetBiotix product concluded ' This new ingredient could provide health benefits when evaluated in human studies by combining sweetness and prebiotic fiber functionality'. The Company has provided SweetBiotix samples under Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) to a number of partners, many of whom have specialist expertise in taste testing and sugar substitutes. This has led to a formal agreement with a USA partner and DSM Firmenich, a $12 billion ingredients supplier, and several food and beverage companies supporting SweetBiotix development with a view to the use of SweetBiotix in their products. This changes the positioning with sugar producers who have previously seen SweetBiotix as a competitor, to a potential partner, by offering a unique, patented process which can utilise and modify commoditised sucrose into higher valued SweetBiotix products. Importantly, whilst there is a material change in the enzymatic process there is no change to the resulting SweetBiotix product other than higher yields which significantly increases the purity (90%) of the final product. The Company believes that most of the process changes are covered within its existing patent portfolio but has extended its filings on the enzyme use and composition given the uniqueness and commercial potential of their properties. Next steps The Company is producing quantities of SweetBiotix for its development, manufacturing, and application partners and sharing the new enzymatic process with DSM Firmenich, US partner, and major sugar producers given its potential to valorise sugar. The Company continues to receive an annual milestone of PS100k from its US partner related to work on Mogrosides with total received to end of 2024 of PS550k. Milestone payments are rarely seen in the food, beverage and supplement industry, even less so prior to commercial launch and should give investors' confidence in the value attributed to this technology by industry. Subject to any partner constraints, the Company hopes to be in a position to demonstrate a range of SweetBiotix products to investors in first first half of 2026. Subject to any partner restrictions, the Company hopes to be In addition to any partner constraints, the company hopes to be in a positions to demonstrate a range of Sweet Biotix products to investors in H1 2026. The Company has made a breakthrough in improving the manufacturing process of its SweetBiotix products. By using a new enzyme, rather than an enzyme extract, the Company is able to achieve substantially higher yields of a purer, more concentrated, better tasting product with lower ingredient and production costs. These are significant benefits when producing at large scale. This new enzyme works on both mogrosides and stevia glycosides allowing the generation of multiple SweetBiotix products to multiple SweetBiotix products. Reported Earnings • Sep 17

OptiBiotix Health plc Announces the Publication of New Peer-Reviewed Study on SlimBiome®? in the European Journal of Nutrition OptiBiotix Health plc announced the publication of a new peer-reviewed study on SlimBiome®? in the European Journal of Nutrition. The European Journal of Nutrition is a peer reviewed, international journal that has a high impact factor with its articles widely cited and influential in its field. The double-blind placebo-controlled study, led by Adele Costabile, Professor of Clinical Nutrition and the Microbiome at the University of Roehampton, found a single 3g dose of SlimBiome significantly reduced insulin levels, hunger, and the desire to eat whilst increasing the feeling of fullness. These are key factors in appetite regulation and the study conclusion highlights the potential of SlimBiome®? as a non-pharmaceutical approach to weight management. These findings on the impact of a single dose of SlimBiome®? are consistent with other published studies, consumer studies, and customer feedback which have shown SlimBiome®? reduces hunger and food cravings leading to users both reducing the amount of food and the type of food they eat, leading to more sustainable weight management. The study was carried out to support health claims for appetite regulation and hunger control in products of one of the USA's leading weight management brands. Scientifically substantiated health claims help to differentiate SlimBiome®? from other products on the market. OptiBiotix now has acute and long-term studies in healthy, overweight, and obese individuals which have allowed the Company to make on pack health claims in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, India, Asia, Canada, and the USA leading to agreements and multiple product launches with major international and national companies and brands (e.g Morepen, Muscletech, Myprotein). In the changing landscape of this market, brought about by the anti-obesity drugs, traditional approaches to weight management are being replaced by science backed products which provide functional benefits such as reduced hunger and desire to eat. SlimBiome®? meets this developing trend. The study adds further evidence to demonstrate the efficacy of SlimBiome®? in reducing hunger and food cravings leading the amount and type of food people eat. Whilst the anti-obesity drugs have strong risk-benefits in the 16% of the world adult population who are obese, they may not be the best choice for the 43% who are overweight. SlimBiome®? represents a natural alternative, particularly for overweight individuals, and has been widely used with no reported adverse side effects". Announcement • May 22

OptiBiotix Health Plc Announces Further Positive Study Results on SlimBiome OptiBiotix Health plc announced further positive study results. The Company has completed a fourth human study on SlimBiome®, which followed recommended industry guidelines and was designed to investigate the acute impact of a single dose of SlimBiome® in the presence of 50g sugar (12 teaspoons) on 20 overweight volunteers on their glycaemic response, hunger, and cravings. Feelings of hunger, fullness, desire to eat, and amount of food desired were assessed at 0, 75 and 150min using the visual analogue scale, a validated questionnaire used in nutrition research to assess appetite and food intake. The researchers at the Brunel University of London reported results showing significant impact on multiple parameters important to appetite and hunger regulation including: - A statistically significant reduction (26.85%) in hunger (p=0.007) with the intake of SlimBiome®. Participants were approximately seven times less hungry when taking SlimBiome® compared to sugar. A statistically significant increase (46.9%) in fullness compared to baseline (p=0.009). Participants were approximately two times fuller when taking SlimBiome® compared to sugar. No safety, compliance, or tolerance issues were reported by volunteers. The results of this study are aligned with the Company's earlier study on the acute impact of SlimBiome® in healthy weight volunteers and provide further evidence of the ability of a single dose of SlimBiome® to moderate the impact of the ingestion of a large amount of sugar on appetite related parameters and support fullness. Researchers at the University of Nottingham report that in stomach simulation laboratory experiments, SlimBiome resulted in a six-fold increase in viscosity when taken with sugar and in a 9.6-fold increase in viscosity when taken with a meal replacement which is related with the ability of SlimBiome to support the feeling of fullness and reduce hunger.
The results are consistent with consumer feedback and customer product reviews who report feeling less hungry leading to reduced snacking and lower food intake leading to an average weight loss of 1.2kg per week.
These findings show SlimBiome® can have a role as a functional ingredient by itself as in SlimBiome Medical®, in meal replacements as in GoFigure®, or as part of a healthy snack in controlling hunger and desire to eat as part of a calorie controlled diet. Reported Earnings • Oct 01

New major risk - Revenue and earnings growth Earnings have declined by 16% per year over the past 5 years. This is considered a major risk. Ultimately, shareholders want to see a good return on their investment and that generally comes from sharing in the company's profits. If profits are declining over an extended period, then in most cases the share price will decline over time unless the company can turn around its fortunes. A trend of falling earnings can be very difficult to turn around. If the company is well already established it may also be a sign the company has matured and is in decline. In addition, if the company pays dividends it will also likely need to reduce or cut them, striking a dual blow to total shareholder returns. Currently, the following risks have been identified for the company: Major Risks Earnings have declined by 16% per year over the past 5 years. OptiBiotix Health Plc Announces Slimbiome Study Results OptiBiotix Health plc notes the latest results from the human studies carried out at Roehampton University, London on OptiBiotix's SlimBiome. Study outcomes, awaiting publication, suggested SlimBiome® intake had a major impact on insulin response combined with significantly lower feelings of hunger, a lower desire to eat, and significantly higher levels of fullness within 15 minutes, for over two hours after consumption. This is one of four studies which have consistently shown SlimBiome® reduces hunger and food cravings leading to users both reducing the amount of food and changing the type of food they eat, to less calorie intense food leading to sustainable weight management. This suggests that SlimBiome® can be used as a natural alternative to the current anti-obesity drugs on the market. These findings on the acute impact of one dose of SlimBiome® are consistent with those of a previous first study, also carried out by Professor Adele Costabile, published in the Journal of Functional Foods (November 2020) which showed that volunteers taking SlimBiome® for four weeks experienced a 21% reduction in cravings for sweet foods and a 30% reduction in cravings for savoury foods. SlimBiome® is availableherein sachets as SlimBiome Medical®/SlimBiome X3 or in meal replacements, bars, gummies, and soups/porridges and is increasingly being used by major sports nutrition brands to support lean body development. The latest results from human studies reinforce findings that a mineral enriched prebiotic fibre complex can help reduce hunger by 27% and support the feeling of fullness by 35% offering a rapid and natural solution for those seeking support in weight management. The latest results from a study conducted by Professor Adele Costabile at the University of Roehampton using Optibitix's SlimBiome® saw 20 volunteers given 50g (12 teaspoons) of sugar with and without SlimBiome®. Study outcomes, awaiting publication, suggested SlimBiome® intake had a significant impact on insulin response combined with significantly lower feelings of hunger, a lower desire to eat, and significantly higher levels of fullness for over two hours after consumption. These findings on the acute impact of one dose of SlimBiome are consistent with those of a previous first study, also carried out by Professor Adele and her team, published in the Journal of Functional Foods (November 2020) which showed that taking SlimBiome® for four weeks volunteers experienced a 21% reduction in cravings for sweet foods and a 30% reduction in cravings for savoury foods. Overall, 90% of volunteers lost weight and all volunteers reported a reduction in waist and hip circumference and lost body fat. In addition, volunteers improved their mood by 26%, suggesting they were losing weight without feeling hungry or craving for food making it more sustainable. The results also showed a significant change in volunteers gut microbiome with a statistically significant increase in microbes associated with a lean body. These studies suggest that a natural ingredient like SlimBiome®, which was tolerated well in all studies, may offer a natural approach to managing hunger and food cravings to support weight management. Whilst using different mechanisms of action, SlimBiome® and anti-obesity drugs work in a similar way by regulating insulin response and promoting the feelings of fullness by slowing down stomach emptying. New minor risk - Shareholder dilution The company's shareholders have been diluted in the past year. Increase in shares outstanding: 7.4% This is considered a minor risk. Shareholder dilution occurs when there is an increase in the number of shares on issue that is not proportionally distributed between all shareholders. Often due to the company raising equity capital or some options being converted into stock. All else being equal, if there are more shares outstanding then each existing share will be entitled to a lower proportion of the company's total earnings, thus reducing earnings per share (EPS). While dilution might not always result in lower EPS (like if the company is using the capital to fund an EPS accretive acquisition) in a lot cases it does, along with lower dividends per share and less voting power at shareholder meetings. OptiBiotix Health plc Provides an Overview of its SweetBiotix Product Range OptiBiotix Health plc provided an overview of its SweetBiotix product range in the light of recent news interest in sweeteners. Meeting the market need: OptiBiotix has developed a portfolio of novel, patented, zero or low calorie sweet dietary fibres, called SweetBiotix. They are unique in that they do not have the health concerns associated with sugar, corn syrup, or sweeteners and importantly, from a health and nutritional labelling perspective, are classified as dietary fibres. In addition to the benefits of increasing fibre intake, SweetBiotix fibres have been shown to have a prebiotic effect by increasing the production of short chain fatty acids. SCFAs are widely known for their importance in gut health, immunity and how energy is metabolised in the body and are one of the main ways in which the gut microbiome contributes to better health. This creates a clear differentiator to other products on the market and an opportunity to replace unhealthy sugars with healthy fibres in a range of food and beverage products and as an ingredient in its own right. The SweetBiotix portfolio contains a range of products which human studies have shown have high (240X the sweetness of sugar) to moderate levels of sweetness (3X) to meet the needs of a wide range of application including fizzy drinks, snacks, bakery products, dairy products and cereals. As a general guide, the high-level sweet products could be considered a replacement for existing sweeteners whilst the moderate level sweetness products as bulk sugar replacement products. The strategy is designed to create multiple opportunities which offer added value and use for a wide range of product applications. Whist taking longer, this reduces the commercial risk which would exist with a single product approach whilst increasing the scale of the opportunity. Product developments OptiBiotix'sproducts are differentiated from other natural sweeteners and sugar substitutes on the market in that they have been developed: To be classified on packaging as dietary fibres providing no contribution to sugar intake and enhancing product nutritional labels. Have a low glycemic index (reducing the risk of developing diabetes). Enhance the gut microbiome providing additional potential health benefits. Have intense sweetness (High Intensity Sweeteners) or sweetness similar to sugar (depending on product). Current position: Both product types are at the end stage of manufacturing scale up with ongoing testing of samples with both partners. This is a complex and rigorous process. Typically, global partners with established brands require confirmation of a robust supply chain for all ingredients (ethically and responsibly sourced) from two different suppliers, low waste streams, humans studies/taste tests and structural and functional analysis on liquid and freeze-dried products from three different production runs to show there is no batch to batch variability. In addition, most require two year shelf life of SweetBiotix as an ingredient and in their final products with no observable effect on appearance, taste, or texture or functionality.
