Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. Completes Significant Milestone for High-Definition Advanced Imaging Technology Kit (HD-AIT) Delivers Kit to Transportation Security Lab for Test and Evaluation Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. announced the completion of its design improvements to the High-Definition Advanced Imaging Technology (HD-AIT) wideband upgrade kit, pending safety and regulatory system validation testing. The upgrade was funded by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as part of its initiative to advance aviation security infrastructure, by improving the capabilities and extending the lifecycle of existing deployed body scanners. Liberty Defense has delivered the upgrade kit to the TSA for evaluation and testing at the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL). The HD-AIT people screening technology platform for threat detection utilizes a wider frequency bandwidth, which enhances resolution and signal detail, and supports third-party development of Machine Learning Automated Threat Recognition (ATR) algorithms intended to achieve improved threat detection with a lower false alarm rate, resulting in a better passenger experience. The HD-AIT upgrade kit being developed is designed to enhance the capabilities of an existing AIT unit using Open Architecture, allowing the use of third-party hardware and software components. Per the TSA, Open Architecture is a technology-design approach for software and hardware that uses widely accepted standards to ensure interoperability across tools and platforms regardless of the technology designer, manufacturer, or supplier. The design and development of the upgraded system have been finalized, and Liberty internal performance validation confirms that the HD-AIT enhanced body scanner is expected to meet or exceed the detection capabilities of the experimental prototype originally developed by Pacific Northwest National Labs. The system being delivered to TSL will be used to collect data critical to training the third-party threat detection algorithms. The TSL is a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Laboratory. Makes Progress on Development of High-Definition Advanced Imaging Technology Upgrade Kit Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. announced that the Company is making progress on the development of a High-Definition Advanced Imaging Technology (HDAIT) upgrade kit as part of its contract award with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As previously announced, the total award to Liberty Defense for the HD-AIT development is $1.75 million over 18 months. The HD-AIT next-generation people screening technology platform for threat detection uses millimeter wave, high-definition imaging, and AI to produce greater detection and lower false alarm rates for a better passenger experience. Liberty was also previously awarded a development contract by TSA for the HEXWAVE, with the HEXWAVE selected for demonstration and evaluation in screening aviation workers at TSA-designated locations to enhance security detection and throughput performance. Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. Launches Artificial Intelligence Platform for Improved Automatic Detection in the HEXWAVE System Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. announced it has readied for use in the field its proprietary Artificial Intelligence platform, a core part of its HEXWAVE walkthrough people screening system. AI is transforming every part of the technology sector by creating intelligent machines that simulate human intelligence to do things like perform complex tasks, reduce human errors, predict outcomes, and make decisions. Liberty's AI-based HEXWAVE system provides automatic threat detection in real time of metallic objects and also non-metallic threats like plastic, liquid, and powder explosives, 3D printed ghost guns, or other prohibited items. HEXWAVE's AI capability to detect non-metallic threats distinguishes it from other competing technologies focused only on metallic threats. Liberty Defense's team of technology experts has created a proprietary AI platform that uses AI machine learning and deep learning algorithms to train the system to recognize specific objects at speeds no human eye or brain could compute. The AI can view massive amounts of imaging data in real time to alarm on concealed threats and give security operators the go/no-decision. The AI has been trained to also ignore common like cell phones, wallets, and keys, that can be left in pockets with jackets left on for quicker, seamless screening. Duyuru • Jan 18
Liberty Defense Announces It Has Completed US Beta Testing Liberty Defense Holdings, Ltd. announced it has recently completed its beta testing of the HEXWAVE(TM) in the United States and utilized beta data and operational feedback to make system configuration and algorithm improvements. The latest beta trials were conducted at the University of Wisconsin for a major sporting event and at a US state capitol building. US state capitol employees and state representatives were able to proceed through the HEXWAVE walkthrough screening portal without having to divest common items like phones, keys, and wallets to improve overall security efficiency and experience. The Company has screened approximately 10,000 people to date during beta trials conducted over the last several months with major international airports, a major US airline, Major League Baseball, one of the largest places of worship in North America, and at testing locations including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The HEXWAVE's core 3D video-rate imaging and Artificial Intelligence (AI) features provide enhanced detection with future proofing. Once the hardware is in place, the software can be adapted to new threats that emerge to evade current screening methods. These AI software upgrades will be available as part of the commercial product release, along with future customer and vertical-specific customizations. In addition to patron or passenger screening, the Company continues to see increased customer interest in employee screening to mitigate insider threat -- a growing area of concern in security operations as unfortunate acts of violence create even more demand for protection using enhanced security applications in both the urban security and aviation sectors.
