He was employed at China Overseas Land & Investment Limited from 2001 to 2011. From 1990 to 1992, he had been working for the Shenzhen Branch of China Overseas Property Group and had held a number of positions, including site engineer and Department Head. He is the Chairman of China State Construction International Holdings Limited since March 22, 2019. He joined China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in 1989 and was seconded to China Overseas Land & Investment Limited in 2001. He has been the Chairman of China Overseas Land & Investment Limited and China Overseas Property Holdings Limited since June 13, 2017. He has been Chairman and Director of China Overseas Grand Oceans Group Limited since June 13, 2017. He served as Director of China Overseas Property Group Co Ltd. Mr. Yan served as a Director of COB Development (Shanghai) Co Ltd. He is a senior engineer.
