Possible Bearish Signals With Palomar Holdings Insiders Disposing Stock

Over the past year, many Palomar Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLMR) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Palomar Holdings

Notably, that recent sale by Founder D. Armstrong was not the only time they sold Palomar Holdings shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -US$1.1m worth of shares at a price of US$92.83 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$99.04, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 2.4% of D. Armstrong's holding.
