Accuray Incorporated (NASDAQ:ARAY) insiders who acquired shares over the previous 12 months, can probably afford to ignore the recent 11% decline in the stock price. Even after accounting for the recent loss, the US$62.3k worth of stock purchased by them is now worth US$72.0k or in other words, their investment continues to give good returns.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
Accuray Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Chairman of the Board Joseph Whitters for US$62k worth of shares, at about US$1.25 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$1.44. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Our data indicates that Accuray insiders own about US$5.0m worth of shares (which is 3.0% of the company). Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!
