Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Riverview Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:RVSB) Independent Director, Valerie Moreno, recently bought US$60k worth of stock, for US$5.89 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Director Larry Hoff for US$61k worth of shares, at about US$6.98 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$5.93). Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
