Bank7 (NASDAQ:BSVN) Is Increasing Its Dividend To $0.24

Published
NasdaqGS:BSVN

Bank7 Corp. (NASDAQ:BSVN) will increase its dividend on the 9th of October to $0.24, which is 14% higher than last year's payment from the same period of $0.21. Even though the dividend went up, the yield is still quite low at only 2.0%.

While the dividend yield is important for income investors, it is also important to consider any large share price moves, as this will generally outweigh any gains from distributions. Investors will be pleased to see that Bank7's stock price has increased by 51% in the last 3 months, which is good for shareholders and can also explain a decrease in the dividend yield.

Bank7's Earnings Will Easily Cover The Distributions

It would be nice for the yield to be higher, but we should also check if higher levels of dividend payment would be sustainable.

Bank7 has a good history of paying out dividends, with its current track record at 5 years. While past records don't necessarily translate into future results, the company's payout ratio of 12% also shows that Bank7 is able to comfortably pay dividends.

Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 6.2%. If the dividend continues on this path, the future payout ratio could be 16% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Bank7 Is Still Building Its Track Record

The dividend's track record has been pretty solid, but with only 5 years of history we want to see a few more years of history before making any solid conclusions. The annual payment during the last 5 years was $0.40 in 2019, and the most recent fiscal year payment was $0.84. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 16% a year over that time. It is always nice to see strong dividend growth, but with such a short payment history we wouldn't be inclined to rely on it until a longer track record can be developed.

The Dividend Has Growth Potential

Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. It's encouraging to see that Bank7 has been growing its earnings per share at 7.8% a year over the past five years. With a decent amount of growth and a low payout ratio, we think this bodes well for Bank7's prospects of growing its dividend payments in the future.

Our Thoughts On Bank7's Dividend

Overall, it's great to see the dividend being raised and that it is still in a sustainable range. The dividend has been at reasonable levels historically, but that hasn't translated into a consistent payment. The dividend looks okay, but there have been some issues in the past, so we would be a little bit cautious.

Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company.
