Recent 12% pullback isn't enough to hurt long-term Favite (TWSE:3535) shareholders, they're still up 178% over 3 years

It might be of some concern to shareholders to see the Favite, Inc. (TWSE:3535) share price down 13% in the last month. But in three years the returns have been great. In three years the stock price has launched 159% higher: a great result. It's not uncommon to see a share price retrace a bit, after a big gain. If the business can perform well for years to come, then the recent drop could be an opportunity.

Since the long term performance has been good but there's been a recent pullback of 12%, let's check if the fundamentals match the share price.

View our latest analysis for Favite

While Favite made a small profit, in the last year, we think that the market is probably more focussed on the top line growth at the moment. As a general rule, we think this kind of company is more comparable to loss-making stocks, since the actual profit is so low. It would be hard to believe in a more profitable future without growing revenues.

In the last 3 years Favite saw its revenue shrink by 37% per year. So we wouldn't have expected the share price to gain 37% per year, but it has. It's fair to say shareholders are definitely counting on a bright future.

What About Dividends?

As well as measuring the share price return, investors should also consider the total shareholder return (TSR). The TSR is a return calculation that accounts for the value of cash dividends (assuming that any dividend received was reinvested) and the calculated value of any discounted capital raisings and spin-offs. So for companies that pay a generous dividend, the TSR is often a lot higher than the share price return. In the case of Favite, it has a TSR of 178% for the last 3 years. That exceeds its share price return that we previously mentioned. The dividends paid by the company have thusly boosted the total shareholder return.

A Different Perspective

We're pleased to report that Favite shareholders have received a total shareholder return of 149% over one year. And that does include the dividend. Since the one-year TSR is better than the five-year TSR (the latter coming in at 18% per year), it would seem that the stock's performance has improved in recent times. Someone with an optimistic perspective could view the recent improvement in TSR as indicating that the business itself is getting better with time. It's always interesting to track share price performance over the longer term. But to understand Favite better, we need to consider many other factors. For instance, we've identified 2 warning signs for Favite that you should be aware of.
