Coca-Cola Europacific Partners' (AMS:CCEP) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners PLC (AMS:CCEP) has announced that it will be increasing its periodic dividend on the 3rd of December to €1.25, which will be 1.6% higher than last year's comparable payment amount of €1.23. Based on this payment, the dividend yield for the company will be 2.6%, which is fairly typical for the industry.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners' Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage
We like to see a healthy dividend yield, but that is only helpful to us if the payment can continue. Based on the last payment, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners was quite comfortably earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that a large portion of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 37.0% over the next year. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 49% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners' Dividend Has Lacked Consistency
Looking back, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners' dividend hasn't been particularly consistent. If the company cuts once, it definitely isn't argument against the possibility of it cutting in the future. The dividend has gone from an annual total of €0.68 in 2016 to the most recent total annual payment of €2.02. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 13% per annum over that time. Dividends have grown rapidly over this time, but with cuts in the past we are not certain that this stock will be a reliable source of income in the future.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
With a relatively unstable dividend, it's even more important to see if earnings per share is growing. It's encouraging to see that Coca-Cola Europacific Partners has been growing its earnings per share at 17% a year over the past five years. The company is paying a reasonable amount of earnings to shareholders, and is growing earnings at a decent rate so we think it could be a decent dividend stock.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one.
