The Trend Of High Returns At Dong A Eltek (KOSDAQ:088130) Has Us Very Interested
If we want to find a stock that could multiply over the long term, what are the underlying trends we should look for? Firstly, we'd want to identify a growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and then alongside that, an ever-increasing base of capital employed. Ultimately, this demonstrates that it's a business that is reinvesting profits at increasing rates of return. So when we looked at the ROCE trend of Dong A Eltek (KOSDAQ:088130) we really liked what we saw.
Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?
Just to clarify if you're unsure, ROCE is a metric for evaluating how much pre-tax income (in percentage terms) a company earns on the capital invested in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for Dong A Eltek:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.20 = ₩41b ÷ (₩512b - ₩307b) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2025).
So, Dong A Eltek has an ROCE of 20%. That's a fantastic return and not only that, it outpaces the average of 6.3% earned by companies in a similar industry.

What Does the ROCE Trend For Dong A Eltek Tell Us?
Dong A Eltek is showing promise given that its ROCE is trending up and to the right. More specifically, while the company has kept capital employed relatively flat over the last five years, the ROCE has climbed 216% in that same time. Basically the business is generating higher returns from the same amount of capital and that is proof that there are improvements in the company's efficiencies. It's worth looking deeper into this though because while it's great that the business is more efficient, it might also mean that going forward the areas to invest internally for the organic growth are lacking.
For the record though, there was a noticeable increase in the company's current liabilities over the period, so we would attribute some of the ROCE growth to that. Essentially the business now has suppliers or short-term creditors funding about 60% of its operations, which isn't ideal. And with current liabilities at those levels, that's pretty high.
In Conclusion...
In summary, we're delighted to see that Dong A Eltek has been able to increase efficiencies and earn higher rates of return on the same amount of capital. And given the stock has remained rather flat over the last five years, there might be an opportunity here if other metrics are strong. So researching this company further and determining whether or not these trends will continue seems justified.
