Positive earnings growth hasn't been enough to get Itcen (KOSDAQ:124500) shareholders a favorable return over the last year
Itcen Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ:124500) shareholders should be happy to see the share price up 13% in the last week. But that is minimal compensation for the share price under-performance over the last year. The cold reality is that the stock has dropped 42% in one year, under-performing the market.
While the last year has been tough for Itcen shareholders, this past week has shown signs of promise. So let's look at the longer term fundamentals and see if they've been the driver of the negative returns.

To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' By comparing earnings per share (EPS) and share price changes over time, we can get a feel for how investor attitudes to a company have morphed over time.
Even though the Itcen share price is down over the year, its EPS actually improved. It's quite possible that growth expectations may have been unreasonable in the past.
The divergence between the EPS and the share price is quite notable, during the year. So it's easy to justify a look at some other metrics.
Itcen's revenue is actually up 61% over the last year. Since the fundamental metrics don't readily explain the share price drop, there might be an opportunity if the market has overreacted.

A Different Perspective
While the broader market lost about 3.9% in the twelve months, Itcen shareholders did even worse, losing 42%. Having said that, it's inevitable that some stocks will be oversold in a falling market. The key is to keep your eyes on the fundamental developments. Regrettably, last year's performance caps off a bad run, with the shareholders facing a total loss of 2% per year over five years. We realise that Baron Rothschild has said investors should "buy when there is blood on the streets", but we caution that investors should first be sure they are buying a high quality business. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too. Even so, be aware that Itcen is showing 3 warning signs in our investment analysis , and 2 of those make us uncomfortable...
