Capital Allocation Trends At Pro2000Ltd (KOSDAQ:321260) Aren't Ideal
Did you know there are some financial metrics that can provide clues of a potential multi-bagger? One common approach is to try and find a company with returns on capital employed (ROCE) that are increasing, in conjunction with a growing amount of capital employed. This shows us that it's a compounding machine, able to continually reinvest its earnings back into the business and generate higher returns. In light of that, when we looked at Pro2000Ltd (KOSDAQ:321260) and its ROCE trend, we weren't exactly thrilled.
Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?
Just to clarify if you're unsure, ROCE is a metric for evaluating how much pre-tax income (in percentage terms) a company earns on the capital invested in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for Pro2000Ltd:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.069 = ₩2.9b ÷ (₩46b - ₩4.4b) (Based on the trailing twelve months to March 2025).
So, Pro2000Ltd has an ROCE of 6.9%. In absolute terms, that's a low return but it's around the Semiconductor industry average of 6.3%.

How Are Returns Trending?
On the surface, the trend of ROCE at Pro2000Ltd doesn't inspire confidence. Over the last five years, returns on capital have decreased to 6.9% from 20% five years ago. Although, given both revenue and the amount of assets employed in the business have increased, it could suggest the company is investing in growth, and the extra capital has led to a short-term reduction in ROCE. If these investments prove successful, this can bode very well for long term stock performance.
On a related note, Pro2000Ltd has decreased its current liabilities to 9.6% of total assets. So we could link some of this to the decrease in ROCE. Effectively this means their suppliers or short-term creditors are funding less of the business, which reduces some elements of risk. Since the business is basically funding more of its operations with it's own money, you could argue this has made the business less efficient at generating ROCE.
The Bottom Line
While returns have fallen for Pro2000Ltd in recent times, we're encouraged to see that sales are growing and that the business is reinvesting in its operations. These trends are starting to be recognized by investors since the stock has delivered a 31% gain to shareholders who've held over the last five years. So this stock may still be an appealing investment opportunity, if other fundamentals prove to be sound.
