We Think That There Are Issues Underlying Shizuki Electric's (TSE:6994) Earnings
Despite posting some strong earnings, the market for Shizuki Electric Company Inc.'s (TSE:6994) stock hasn't moved much. We did some digging, and we found some concerning factors in the details.
How Do Unusual Items Influence Profit?
Importantly, our data indicates that Shizuki Electric's profit received a boost of JP¥237m in unusual items, over the last year. We can't deny that higher profits generally leave us optimistic, but we'd prefer it if the profit were to be sustainable. When we analysed the vast majority of listed companies worldwide, we found that significant unusual items are often not repeated. And, after all, that's exactly what the accounting terminology implies. Assuming those unusual items don't show up again in the current year, we'd thus expect profit to be weaker next year (in the absence of business growth, that is).

Our Take On Shizuki Electric's Profit Performance
Arguably, Shizuki Electric's statutory earnings have been distorted by unusual items boosting profit. Because of this, we think that it may be that Shizuki Electric's statutory profits are better than its underlying earnings power. The silver lining is that its EPS growth over the last year has been really wonderful, even if it's not a perfect measure. At the end of the day, it's essential to consider more than just the factors above, if you want to understand the company properly. Keep in mind, when it comes to analysing a stock it's worth noting the risks involved. For example, we've found that Shizuki Electric has 3 warning signs (1 is a bit concerning!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
