Introducing Enervit (BIT:ENV), A Stock That Climbed 27% In The Last Year
There's no doubt that investing in the stock market is a truly brilliant way to build wealth. But not every stock you buy will perform as well as the overall market. Over the last year the Enervit S.p.A. (BIT:ENV) share price is up 27%, but that's less than the broader market return. The longer term returns have not been as good, with the stock price only 2.9% higher than it was three years ago.

To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price.
During the last year Enervit saw its earnings per share (EPS) drop below zero. While some may see this as temporary, we're a skeptical bunch, and so we're a little surprised to see the share price go up. It may be that the company has done well on other metrics.
Unfortunately Enervit's fell 11% over twelve months. So the fundamental metrics don't provide an obvious explanation for the share price gain.

A Different Perspective
Enervit shareholders are up 27% for the year (even including dividends). Unfortunately this falls short of the market return. On the bright side, that's still a gain, and it's actually better than the average return of 5% over half a decade This suggests the company might be improving over time. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Like risks, for instance. Every company has them, and we've spotted 5 warning signs for Enervit (of which 2 are a bit concerning!) you should know about.
