Lupin Limited Just Recorded A 24% EPS Beat: Here's What Analysts Are Forecasting Next
A week ago, Lupin Limited (NSE:LUPIN) came out with a strong set of second-quarter numbers that could potentially lead to a re-rate of the stock. It was overall a positive result, with revenues beating expectations by 7.3% to hit ₹70b. Lupin also reported a statutory profit of ₹32.28, which was an impressive 24% above what the analysts had forecast. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. So we gathered the latest post-earnings forecasts to see what estimates suggest is in store for next year.
Following the latest results, Lupin's 35 analysts are now forecasting revenues of ₹259.3b in 2026. This would be an okay 4.8% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to accumulate 3.0% to ₹97.48. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of ₹254.5b and earnings per share (EPS) of ₹90.96 in 2026. The analysts seems to have become more bullish on the business, judging by their new earnings per share estimates.

There's been no major changes to the consensus price target of ₹2,248, suggesting that the improved earnings per share outlook is not enough to have a long-term positive impact on the stock's valuation. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Lupin at ₹2,600 per share, while the most bearish prices it at ₹1,896. Analysts definitely have varying views on the business, but the spread of estimates is not wide enough in our view to suggest that extreme outcomes could await Lupin shareholders.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. The period to the end of 2026 brings more of the same, according to the analysts, with revenue forecast to display 9.7% growth on an annualised basis. That is in line with its 10% annual growth over the past five years. Compare this with the broader industry, which analyst estimates (in aggregate) suggest will see revenues grow 11% annually. So although Lupin is expected to maintain its revenue growth rate, it's only growing at about the rate of the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The biggest takeaway for us is the consensus earnings per share upgrade, which suggests a clear improvement in sentiment around Lupin's earnings potential next year. Happily, there were no real changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow in line with the overall industry. The consensus price target held steady at ₹2,248, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. We have forecasts for Lupin going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 2 warning signs for Lupin (1 is a bit concerning!) that you need to be mindful of.
