Here's Why We Think 20 Microns (NSE:20MICRONS) Is Well Worth Watching
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like 20 Microns (NSE:20MICRONS). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

20 Microns's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so share price follows earnings per share (EPS) eventually. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. 20 Microns managed to grow EPS by 6.0% per year, over three years. That might not be particularly high growth, but it does show that per-share earnings are moving steadily in the right direction.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. The good news is that 20 Microns is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 3.2 percentage points to 11%, over the last year. That's great to see, on both counts.

Since 20 Microns is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₹2.0b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are 20 Microns Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Like the kids in the streets standing up for their beliefs, insider share purchases give me reason to believe in a brighter future. Because oftentimes, the purchase of stock is a sign that the buyer views it as undervalued. However, small purchases are not always indicative of conviction, and insiders don't always get it right.
We haven't seen any insiders selling 20 Microns shares, in the last year. With that in mind, it's heartening that Ajay Ranka, the Non-Executive Independent Director of the company, paid ₹3.3m for shares at around ₹59.30 each.
Does 20 Microns Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
One important encouraging feature of 20 Microns is that it is growing profits. While some companies are struggling to grow EPS, 20 Microns seems free from that morose affliction. The icing on the cake is that an insider bought shares during the year, which inclines me to put this one on a watchlist.
