Founder Holdings' (HKG:418) one-year total shareholder returns outpace the underlying earnings growth
Founder Holdings Limited (HKG:418) shareholders might be concerned after seeing the share price drop 11% in the last week. Despite this, the stock is a strong performer over the last year, no doubt about that. Indeed, the share price is up an impressive 200% in that time. So it may be that the share price is simply cooling off after a strong rise. Only time will tell if there is still too much optimism currently reflected in the share price.
In light of the stock dropping 11% in the past week, we want to investigate the longer term story, and see if fundamentals have been the driver of the company's positive one-year return.

In his essay The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville Warren Buffett described how share prices do not always rationally reflect the value of a business. One way to examine how market sentiment has changed over time is to look at the interaction between a company's share price and its earnings per share (EPS).
Founder Holdings was able to grow EPS by 16% in the last twelve months. This EPS growth is significantly lower than the 200% increase in the share price. So it's fair to assume the market has a higher opinion of the business than it a year ago.
