Here's Why Hopson Development Holdings (HKG:754) Has A Meaningful Debt Burden

A Look At Hopson Development Holdings' Liabilities

According to the last reported balance sheet, Hopson Development Holdings had liabilities of HK$120.3b due within 12 months, and liabilities of HK$103.1b due beyond 12 months. On the other hand, it had cash of HK$66.9b and HK$10.4b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by HK$146.2b.

This deficit casts a shadow over the HK$43.7b company, like a colossus towering over mere mortals. So we'd watch its balance sheet closely, without a doubt. After all, Hopson Development Holdings would likely require a major re-capitalisation if it had to pay its creditors today.
