These 4 Measures Indicate That Foodlink A.E (ATH:FOODL) Is Using Debt Extensively

When we think about how risky a company is, we always like to look at its use of debt, since debt overload can lead to ruin. We can see that Foodlink A.E. (ATH:FOODL) does use debt in its business. But the real question is whether this debt is making the company risky.

Debt is a tool to help businesses grow, but if a business is incapable of paying off its lenders, then it exists at their mercy. How Healthy Is Foodlink A.E's Balance Sheet?
We can see from the most recent balance sheet that Foodlink A.E had liabilities of €43.3m falling due within a year, and liabilities of €21.8m due beyond that. Offsetting these obligations, it had cash of €1.73m as well as receivables valued at €25.6m due within 12 months. So it has liabilities totalling €37.9m more than its cash and near-term receivables, combined.
This deficit casts a shadow over the €12.6m company, like a colossus towering over mere mortals. So we'd watch its balance sheet closely, without a doubt. At the end of the day, Foodlink A.E would probably need a major re-capitalization if its creditors were to demand repayment.
