Further Upside For TEAM plc (LON:TEAM) Shares Could Introduce Price Risks After 28% Bounce
TEAM plc (LON:TEAM) shareholders have had their patience rewarded with a 28% share price jump in the last month. Not all shareholders will be feeling jubilant, since the share price is still down a very disappointing 25% in the last twelve months.
In spite of the firm bounce in price, TEAM may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.7x, considering almost half of all companies in the Capital Markets industry in the United Kingdom have P/S ratios greater than 2.5x and even P/S higher than 8x aren't out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, we'd need to dig a little deeper to determine if there is a rational basis for the reduced P/S.

What Does TEAM's P/S Mean For Shareholders?
TEAM certainly has been doing a good job lately as it's been growing revenue more than most other companies. Perhaps the market is expecting future revenue performance to dive, which has kept the P/S suppressed. If not, then existing shareholders have reason to be quite optimistic about the future direction of the share price.

There's an inherent assumption that a company should underperform the industry for P/S ratios like TEAM's to be considered reasonable.
Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 93% gain to the company's top line. This great performance means it was also able to deliver immense revenue growth over the last three years. So we can start by confirming that the company has done a tremendous job of growing revenue over that time.
Turning to the outlook, the next three years should generate growth of 9.9% per year as estimated by the only analyst watching the company. That's shaping up to be materially higher than the 3.7% per annum growth forecast for the broader industry.
With this information, we find it odd that TEAM is trading at a P/S lower than the industry. It looks like most investors are not convinced at all that the company can achieve future growth expectations.
What Does TEAM's P/S Mean For Investors?
TEAM's stock price has surged recently, but its but its P/S still remains modest. It's argued the price-to-sales ratio is an inferior measure of value within certain industries, but it can be a powerful business sentiment indicator.
To us, it seems TEAM currently trades on a significantly depressed P/S given its forecasted revenue growth is higher than the rest of its industry. When we see strong growth forecasts like this, we can only assume potential risks are what might be placing significant pressure on the P/S ratio. While the possibility of the share price plunging seems unlikely due to the high growth forecasted for the company, the market does appear to have some hesitation.
And what about other risks? Every company has them, and we've spotted 3 warning signs for TEAM (of which 2 are a bit unpleasant!) you should know about.
