GFT Technologies (ETR:GFT) Has Announced That It Will Be Increasing Its Dividend To €0.50

The board of GFT Technologies SE (ETR:GFT) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of €0.50 on the 25th of June, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This makes the dividend yield about the same as the industry average at 1.8%.

GFT Technologies' Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage

While it is always good to see a solid dividend yield, we should also consider whether the payment is feasible. However, prior to this announcement, GFT Technologies' dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.

Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 54.9% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 18% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Dividend Volatility

Although the company has a long dividend history, it has been cut at least once in the last 10 years. The annual payment during the last 10 years was €0.25 in 2014, and the most recent fiscal year payment was €0.50. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 7.2% a year over that time. A reasonable rate of dividend growth is good to see, but we're wary that the dividend history is not as solid as we'd like, having been cut at least once.

The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow

With a relatively unstable dividend, it's even more important to see if earnings per share is growing. GFT Technologies has impressed us by growing EPS at 19% per year over the past five years. GFT Technologies definitely has the potential to grow its dividend in the future with earnings on an uptrend and a low payout ratio.

We Really Like GFT Technologies' Dividend

In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.

Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company. For instance, we've picked out 1 warning sign for GFT Technologies that investors should take into consideration. Looking for more high-yielding dividend ideas? Nvidia's (NVDA) record profit had a US$7.8 billion catch. That chunk came from betting on its own customers, not from selling its chips.

The circularity worth examining is not the mark-to-market line. A large and growing share of Nvidia's revenue comes from companies funded by venture capital, and Nvidia participates in some of those rounds. That is the loop. The paper gains are just an accounting reflection of it, so focusing on them means arguing about the mirror rather than the room.

Hyperscalers grew 13% sequentially, the other AI segment grew 25% and 138% year on year. The faster half is the funded half. AI venture funding was over 400 billion in the first half with about 70% spent on compute. That is an interesting composition shift like I mentioned yesterday.

At first glance, this was the strongest earnings season in years. But when you look at where the growth actually came from, the story splits into two very different pictures.
