Scout24's (ETR:G24) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year
Scout24 SE (ETR:G24) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 10th of June to €1.32. This will take the annual payment to 1.3% of the stock price, which is above what most companies in the industry pay.
Scout24's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings
We like to see robust dividend yields, but that doesn't matter if the payment isn't sustainable. Prior to this announcement, Scout24's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This means that a large portion of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
The next year is set to see EPS grow by 82.3%. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 37%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.

Scout24 Is Still Building Its Track Record
Even though the company has been paying a consistent dividend for a while, we would like to see a few more years before we feel comfortable relying on it. Since 2017, the dividend has gone from €0.30 total annually to €1.32. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 20% per annum over that time. It is always nice to see strong dividend growth, but with such a short payment history we wouldn't be inclined to rely on it until a longer track record can be developed.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
The company's investors will be pleased to have been receiving dividend income for some time. Scout24 has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 30% per annum. The company's earnings per share has grown rapidly in recent years, and it has a good balance between reinvesting and paying dividends to shareholders, so we think that Scout24 could prove to be a strong dividend payer.
We Really Like Scout24's Dividend
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Earnings growth generally bodes well for the future value of company dividend payments.
