Should You Take Comfort From Insider Transactions At Stuhini Exploration Ltd. (CVE:STU)?
We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. On the other hand, we'd be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Stuhini Exploration Ltd. (CVE:STU).
What Is Insider Buying?
It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.
We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise'.

Stuhini Exploration Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by insider Eric Sprott for CA$400k worth of shares, at about CA$0.40 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of CA$0.47 per share to be enticing. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it's a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.
While Stuhini Exploration insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. Does Stuhini Exploration Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Stuhini Exploration insiders own about CA$3.2m worth of shares. That equates to 30% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
