Published
ASX:AFG

From what we can see, insiders were net sellers in Australian Finance Group Limited's (ASX:AFG ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders sold the stock in greater numbers than they purchased it.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Australian Finance Group

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Co-Founder & Non-Executive Director, Malcolm Watkins, for AU$608k worth of shares, at about AU$1.52 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (AU$1.64). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was just 2.4% of Malcolm Watkins's stake. Malcolm Watkins was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 90.00k shares worth AU$135k. But insiders sold 400.00k shares worth AU$608k.
