Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. Announces Hydrocarbon Flow from the Elandshoek Formation at Kavango West 1X, Proceeding to Test the Huttenberg Formation with Net Pay Identified Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. along with its partners BW Energy (20% WI) and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR, 10% carried WI), announced preliminary production testing results from the three lowest zones in the Elandshoek formation on the Kavango West 1X discovery well, which began testing operations on June 8, 2026. Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. has completed production testing the lowest three zones located in the Elandshoek formation. Testing in the uppermost zone in the Elandshoek successfully produced natural gas to surface on three separate flow tests. Production samples have been collected for lab analysis with the rest of the produced hydrocarbons flared at surface. The results of the compositional analysis are expected in the coming weeks from samples to be sent to laboratories in the United States. Testing equipment is currently being moved up hole to continue production testing the three identified zones in the shallower Huttenberg formation. The three Huttenberg zones will test 182 metres of reservoir section, including 76 net metres of hydrocarbon pay identified on well log tests. It is estimated that testing may take up to approximately 10 days per zone and therefore management estimates providing the next production test update by approximately late August. The entire Otavi section (1,657 metres), inclusive of the Huttenberg and Elandshoek formations, were cased and cemented with production casing. This wellbore configuration allows the Company to individually test the six optimized zones, which were identified by well log analysis. Although the production casing configuration is necessary for this first stage of production testing, production casings can restrict optimal access to natural reservoir factures. After proving the natural flow of hydrocarbons encountered from this zone, the next step following the completion of the remaining perforated zone tests would be to potentially drill a horizontal or deviated (i.e. slanted) sidetrack extension through the upper Elandshoek formation to better encounter the natural fractures across the Kavango structure to obtain higher flow rates. By analogue to similarly naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs globally, data shows significant production rate uplift from horizontal, or deviated, wells compared against vertical wells. Management believes the Huttenberg formation, where pay has been calculated from well log analysis, has substantial matrix porosity which should be able to produce with the current wellbore configuration. Three separate zones across a total of 163 metres of the Elandshoek formation were perforated, acid soaked and production tested. The upper most zone of the Elandshoek formation flowed hydrocarbons to surface for sample collection and flaring. The uppermost zone of the Elandshoek formation (47 metres) was production tested and flared on three separate occasions. The well was open for flow for a total of approximately 24 hours during which natural gas and liquids were produced at intermittent levels. However, due to equipment limitations it was not possible to collect accurate measurements of flow test rates. Tubing pressures increased between each of the production tests, increasing to a measured 2,300 psi through the 5-inch production casing prior to the second flow test, which indicates hydrocarbon deliverability. Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. recovered several IsoTubes from approximately eight litres of hydrocarbon samples collected at surface, which will be sent to the United States for compositional analysis. All other production of hydrocarbons was flared at surface. The laboratory tests of the collected samples will provide a compositional analysis to discern between the presence of natural gas and any associated natural gas liquids from the reservoir from possible load fluid recovery. Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. Commences Production Testing At Kavango West 1X Discovery Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd., along with partners NAMCOR and BW Energy, had commenced production testing operations at Kavango West 1X. Downhole production testing operations at KW1X have commenced. The cement bond log was conducted prior to the end of May confirming that production testing could proceed with no additional cement work. Downhole perforation work is currently underway, managed by SLB and Halliburton services, following the delivery of perforation equipment to site. While permitting requirements for the transportation of the downhole testing equipment from North America to the Kavango West 1X drill site experienced minor delays, ReconAfrica continues to target disclosure of production test results to all stakeholders by late July. As previously stated, plans are to test six optimized zones of interest (three in the lower Elandshoek formation and three in the shallower Huttenburg formation) with each zone test lasting up to 10 days. Any flow of natural gas or liquids to surface will be flared at this testing stage. Following a successful production test, the KW1X well would be temporarily abandoned and available as a future producing well. ReconAfrica continues to take the steps required to advance appraisal drilling locations on the Kavango discovery following the completion of the production test at KW1X. Preparations for the appraisal well are proceeding with specific permitting applications and site preparations underway for the Kavango West 2A appraisal well. Announcement • Mar 28
Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. Commences Production Testing Operations At Kavango West Discovery and Provides Operational Update Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. commenced testing operations on schedule at the Kavango West 1X discovery well. Regulatory permits required to proceed with production testing have been received and work crews are on site preparing the well for testing. The production liner, which was procured in North America, has arrived on site. The Company has signed contracts with Halliburton and Schlumberger Oilfield Services for equipment and services. Local suppliers have been engaged in multiple support capacities. By incorporating additional rock data, log analysis has continued to be updated which has resulted in refinements to previously disclosed results of the well log analysis. The current petrophysical analysis indicates 75 metres (246 feet) of net hydrocarbon pay in the Huttenberg formation, an increase over the previously disclosed 64 metres (210 feet). ReconAfrica, as operator, will be conducting production testing across six optimized zones, three of which are in the Huttenberg formation and three in the deeper Elandshoek formation. A total of 345 metres (1,132 feet) of prospective interval will be isolated and perforated for testing. The Company is currently reprocessing 3D seismic data over the key areas of the Ngulu block, including the Loba discovery. Upon completion, the Company will select an appraisal location on the Loba oil discovery and commission a third-party resource report, which is expected by the end of 2026. The Ngulu block, which covers 1,214 Km2 and is equivalent to 54 Gulf of Mexico blocks, is in shallow water offshore central Gabon. This strategic block is located on trend to several sizable producing oil fields. The key aspects of the Ngulu block include the Loba oil discovery and over 28 seismically identified prospects in the pre- and post-salt plays.
