NMDC Steel Limited Announces Appointment of Vivek Nishant Nath as Director (Commercial), Effective July 15, 2026
NMDC Steel Limited informed that in terms of Order No. S-14013/2/2025-BLA dated July 14, 2026 read with earlier Order dated March 20, 2023 of the Ministry of Steel (MoS), Government of India, Shri Vivek Nishant Nath (DIN: 11832511) had been appointed as Director (Commercial) on the Board of NMDC Steel Limited for a period of five years from the date of his assumption of charge of the post i.e. July 15, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is a seasoned mining and metals industry professional with over three decades of experience in sales and marketing, international commercial operations, procurement, logistics, and supply chain management. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Shri Nath began his professional career with NMDC in 1992 and served the Company for nearly fifteen years in various commercial roles, gaining significant experience in domestic iron ore sales and marketing. He subsequently held key positions with Essar Steel Limited and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, before joining Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) as General Manager (Sales & Marketing) in 2021. In 2024, he was promoted as Chief General Manager (Sales & Marketing) at OMC, where he led the sales and marketing functions for iron ore, chrome ore, manganese ore, bauxite, limestone, and ferrochrome. During his tenure at OMC, Shri Nath played a pivotal role in driving growth in iron ore sales and revenue through customer-centric initiatives, transparent pricing mechanisms, digital transformation, and logistics reforms. Under his leadership, OMC's iron ore sales increased from 12.33 million tonnes in Fiscal Year 2020-21 to 38.26 million tonnes in Fiscal Year 2025-26. Shri Nath has authored more than 11 research papers on mining and metals sector issues and has been invited as keynote speaker and guest speaker at various national and international industry forums, including SGX, Fastmarkets, Mysteel, SMM, IMARC, Metal Junction, Metalogic, and Steelmint. Shri Nath holds an MBA in International Business from Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune, and has completed a Management Development Programme in Business Administration and Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore.
