We think that it’s fair to say that the possibility of finding fantastic multi-year winners is what motivates many investors. But when you hold the right stock for the right time period, the rewards can be truly huge. Take, for example, the MTBC, Inc. (NASDAQ:MTBC) share price, which skyrocketed 399% over three years. In more good news, the share price has risen -3.3% in thirty days.
Because MTBC is loss-making, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. That’s because fast revenue growth can be easily extrapolated to forecast profits, often of considerable size.
In the last 3 years MTBC saw its revenue grow at 37% per year. That’s much better than most loss-making companies. In light of this attractive revenue growth, it seems somewhat appropriate that the share price has been rocketing, boasting a gain of 71% per year, over the same period. It’s always tempting to take profits after a share price gain like that, but high-growth companies like MTBC can sometimes sustain strong growth for many years. In fact, it might be time to put it on your watchlist, if you’re not already familiar with the stock.

A Different Perspective
Investors in MTBC had a tough year, with a total loss of 3.5%, against a market gain of about 28%. Even the share prices of good stocks drop sometimes, but we want to see improvements in the fundamental metrics of a business, before getting too interested. Longer term investors wouldn’t be so upset, since they would have made 11%, each year, over five years. It could be that the recent sell-off is an opportunity, so it may be worth checking the fundamental data for signs of a long term growth trend. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. For example, we’ve discovered 3 warning signs for MTBC which any shareholder or potential investor should be aware of.
We will like MTBC better if we see some big insider buys. While we wait, check out this free list of growing companies with considerable, recent, insider buying.
