Petrobras Wants 40% Stake in Namibia's Largest Galp Oil Block It is expected that the Brazilian company Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. - Petrobras (BOVESPA:PETR4) will actively participate in the acquisition of the entire 40% stake in the Mopane oil and gas block put up for sale by the Portuguese company Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. (ENXTLS:GALP) in Namibia. In order to exploit the oil field Petrobras needs a full 40% stake said the director of exploration and production Silvia dos Anjos on the sidelines of the ROGe oil and gas event. Operating with less than 40% is very bad Galp proposed an operation and no one operates with less than 40% she said. In July Petrobras made a nonbinding offer as part of an auction organized by the Portuguese company. This offer would have allowed Petrobras to become the operator of the field However so far there has been no progress in this process. We know Brazil very well and we also have a lot of experience in Africa So if we are going to work abroad then of course Africa is the right place she added. 공고 • May 22
Exxon Mobil, Shell Reportedly to Weigh Bids for Galp Namibia Stake Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) and Shell plc (LSE:SHEL) are among energy giants evaluating bids for a stake in Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. (ENXTLS:GALP)’s major oil field offshore Namibia, according to people familiar with the matter. TotalEnergies SE (ENXTPA:TTE) and Equinor ASA (OB:EQNR) are also among those considering acquiring the 40% stake Galp is seeking to sell in the Mopane discovery, said the people, asking not to be identified as the matter is private. Based on Galp’s recent “in place” estimates for 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent in the Mopane complex, the entire discovery could be worth around USD 20 billion, or potentially more, some of the people said. The Portuguese firm said in an April filing that the oil estimate is before drilling additional exploration and appraisal wells. Galp, which is working with a financial adviser to sell half of its 80% holding in the asset, has called for first round bids in mid-June, according to the people. Shares of Galp were up 2.8% at 3:14 p.m. May 21, 2024 in Lisbon, putting it on track for the biggest daily gain in about a month and giving the company a market value of €15.2 billion ($16.5 billion). Deliberations are in the early stages and other bidders could emerge, while the Lisbon-based company could also decide to retain the stake if it cannot reach a final agreement with any of the parties, the people said. Representatives for Galp, Shell, Exxon, Equinor and TotalEnergies declined to comment. Galp shares jumped 21% after the company said in April that a well test “potentially” indicated Mopane could be an important commercial find in Namibia following the completion of the first phase of its exploration. The “in place” estimates for 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent are the first in a series of tests to determine how much oil the discovery contains and is recoverable. 공고 • Apr 24
Galp Reportedly Seeks to Sell Stake in Namibia Oilfield After Discovery Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. (ENXTLS:GALP) has launched the sale of half of its stake in an exploration block offshore Namibia where it has made a major oil discovery, three industry sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. Galp's Mopane discovery, which is estimated to hold at least 10 billion barrels of oil and gas equivalent, appears to be one of the largest in the basin which could help kickstart the southern African country's oil industry even as governments around the world seek to reduce fossil fuel consumption. Galp has an 80% stake in Petroleum Exploration Licence 83 (PEL 83), which covers almost 10,000 square kilometres (3,860 square miles) in the Orange Basin, with Namibia's national oil company NAMCOR and independent exploration group Custos each holding another 10%. Lisbon-based Galp is offering to sell half of its stake in the block, said the sources, who could not be named because they are not authorised to speak to the media. It is also offering to cede control of the development of the project to the potential buyer, expected to be a major international rival with a strong track record in project management, the sources said. Galp declined to comment. It has previously indicated it could launch a process to raise capital for the development of its projects in Namibia, as they could reach a large scale. It has hired Bank of America to run the sale process, which could raise several billion dollars for Galp, although the exact value is unclear, the sources said. Bank of America declined to comment. Galp shares closed over 20% higher following Galp's update on the Mopane field and Reuters reporting the sale process. 공고 • Feb 14

Galp Energia Plans to Sell 10% Stake in Mozambique Gas Project Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. (ENXTLS:GALP) has mandated Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) to prepare a sale of its 10% stake in a multibillion-dollar natural gas project in Mozambique's Rovuma basin, the Negocios newspaper said on February 16, 2023, citing an unidentified source linked to the energy sector. There would be no lack of interest in Galp's stake as the war in Ukraine had increased the appetite for gas from international companies, the report said. The energy company holds a 10% stake in a consortium exploring for natural gas in Rovuma's Area 4, in the northern Mozambique region of Cabo Delgado, which has been the target of attacks by militants. The main shareholder with a 70% stake is Mozambique Rovuma Venture, comprising Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), Eni S.p.A. (BIT:ENI) and China National Petroleum Corporation. Korea Gas Corporation (KOSE:A036460) and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, E.P have 10% each. 공고 • Feb 14
