McGraw Hill Integrates ROAR Literacy Screener Into Its K–12 Literacy Portfolio McGraw Hill, Inc. announced the exclusive integration of ROAR (Rapid Online Assessment of Reading), including the technology and intellectual property that underpins the assessment model, into its literacy portfolio, enabling the company to bring to market a research-backed approach to literacy screening across K–12 classrooms. Exclusive integration adds ROAR, the only literacy screener designed to assess foundational reading skills across the full K–12 continuum, to McGraw Hill's literacy portfolio. Developed at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, Reading and Dyslexia Research Program, ROAR is the only literacy screener designed to assess foundational reading skills across the full K–12 continuum. Bringing ROAR together with McGraw Hill’s K–12 literacy portfolio will enable educators to provide personalized support for each student by leveraging curriculum and other learning resources to help them develop the skills they need. Grounded in more than a decade of reading and neuroscience research, ROAR helps educators identify and support students with diverse reading needs, including students with dyslexia, earlier and more effectively. As states increasingly prioritize literacy screening, this agreement strengthens the connection between assessment, instruction and intervention while helping educators translate reading research into classroom practice. ROAR is an online screener that assesses foundational reading skills including phonological awareness, word recognition, vocabulary and other key indicators of reading development, and is available in both English and Spanish. The assessments provide educators with rapid, actionable insights—delivered in real-time—that can help identify reading strengths, uncover potential reading difficulties and support earlier and more targeted intervention. Unlike many literacy screening tools that focus primarily on early elementary grades, ROAR is the only literacy screener on the market that assesses foundational reading skills from kindergarten through 12th grade, helping schools identify and support students in later grades who may benefit from additional literacy support. ROAR will complement McGraw Hill's K–12 literacy programs including its core ELA curriculum—Emerge!, Summit!, Soar! and ¡Emerger juntos!—as well as its intervention and supplemental solutions, creating a more seamless pathway for educators to identify student needs and connect each student with personalized support, learning tools and curriculum that help build the skills they need. The ROAR Foundational Reading Skills Suite has been validated for dyslexia screening and is already approved for use in several states, including California, Kentucky, Minnesota and Ohio. Through research partnerships with the Stanford Graduate School of Education, Reading and Dyslexia Research Program, ROAR has already been used by more than 500,000 learners, providing a growing foundation for continued research and innovation in reading assessment. 실시간 뉴스 • Aug 12
McGraw Hill Integrates Stanford-Backed ROAR Reading Screener Across K–12 Literacy Portfolio McGraw Hill is integrating ROAR (Rapid Online Assessment of Reading), a Stanford Graduate School of Education developed, research-backed dyslexia and literacy screener, into its K–12 literacy portfolio, including the underlying technology and intellectual property.
The ROAR tool is described as the only literacy screener designed to cover foundational reading skills across the full K–12 range and is intended to help educators identify and support diverse reading needs, including dyslexia, earlier and more effectively.
McGraw Hill’s stock trades at $11.50, with the share price down 29.7% year to date, and the ROAR integration is presented as a way to tighten the link between assessment, instruction, and intervention in its education offering.
The read-through is that McGraw Hill is deepening its assessment capabilities in K–12 literacy, which could matter for long-term relevance with school districts but also adds execution risk around product integration and educator adoption. 실시간 뉴스 • Jul 29
Moody’s Lifts McGraw Hill Credit Ratings Following Balance Sheet Strengthening Moody’s Ratings upgraded McGraw Hill’s corporate family rating to B1 from B2, raised its senior secured notes and bank credit facility ratings to Ba3 from B1, and lifted its senior unsecured notes rating to B3 from Caa1, with a stable outlook.
McGraw Hill said the upgrades reflect its efforts to strengthen the balance sheet, reduce debt, lower interest expense and increase financial flexibility while continuing to invest in education-focused operations.
McGraw Hill’s stock last traded at $10.98, with the share price down 32.8% year to date as of 29 July 2026.
The rating upgrade points to improved credit quality, which can support lower funding costs and more room to refinance or extend maturities. For equity holders, the key consideration is whether management continues to prioritise debt reduction and disciplined capital allocation so that the stronger balance sheet is accompanied by more resilient cash flow and less financial risk over time.
