Richard is a highly experienced senior executive and entrepreneur whose 35- year career in the retail sector included serving as chief operating officer for both Woolworths and Massmart. In his 17 years at Woolworths he held various senior roles, including operations and financial services director with responsibility for financial services, global supply chain, information technology and corporate strategy. He served as an executive director of Woolworths Holdings for seven years. He spent several years as an independent consultant and entrepreneur, during which time he co-founded two businesses in the retail and logistics sectors. After consulting to Massmart, he joined the company as a full-time executive in 2017 and retired as chief operating officer in 2022. Richard is currently a non-executive director of listed property group Hyprop Investments Limited and previously served as a non-executive director of AVI Limited. He was a founding executive committee member of the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa.

Ms Ramon is a highly experienced corporate financial executive with extensive board expertise. A chartered accountant, she served as chief financial officer and as an executive director until 30 June 2022 of gold mining company, AngloGold Ashanti for eight years, including a year as interim chief executive officer. Prior to that Christine was the chief financial officer of the energy and chemicals company, Sasol for 7 years. Before joining Sasol, Christine was CEO at Johnnic Holdings, a media and entertainment company. Ms Ramon is currently a non-executive director of Vodafone plc and a member of the Presidential State-Owned Enterprises Council. She was previously a director of MTN Group, World Gold Council, International Council on Mining and Metals, Lafarge France, International Federation of Accountants and the Financial Reporting Standards Council of South Africa (deputy chairman). Ms Ramon will be appointed to the Clicks Group remuneration and nominations committee, and will be a standing invitee to the audit and risk committee. The Clicks Group board will now comprise seven independent non-executive directors and two executive directors, with 67% black and 44% female representation on the board.

Clicks Group Limited (JSE:CLS) welcomes the Sorbet employees and franchise partners into the group and look forward to a mutually beneficial, value accretive relationship. The proposed transaction is subject to approval by competition authorities. The effective date of acquisition is expected to be the first day of the month following the approval by the competition authorities.

Bertina will assume the title of group corporate affairs director, effective 1 December 2020. The group also announces the appointment of new managing executives for its two main operating businesses, Clicks and UPD. Vikash Singh, currently the managing executive of UPD, has been promoted to managing executive of Clicks, with effect from 1 February 2021. In his new role he has also been appointed to the group's executive committee. Vikash (47) joined the group in 2006 and is a seasoned executive whose career has spanned financial, operational and supply chain responsibilities, with extensive experience in logistics management in Clicks and UPD. He served as head of operations and distribution at UPD before being appointed as managing executive in 2015. Trevor McCoy has been appointed as managing executive of UPD, effective 1 April 2021. Trevor (51) has 25 years' experience in the pharmaceutical sector and joins from Sanofi where he currently serves as the country public affairs head. His previous roles have included serving as business unit head in diverse portfolios and therapeutic classes in Sanofi, Pfizer and Alcon, with responsibility for managing sales and marketing teams as well as developing growth strategies for traditional and non-traditional markets.
