The innovative battery is an oxide-based small all-solid-state battery with energy density of 200 Wh/L. This has achieved an equivalent level of energy density to lithium-ion batteries while being smaller in size, and SEMCO is currently promoting this product to customers through prototype evaluations. All-solid-state batteries utilize a non-flammable solid electrolyte for charging and discharging, enhancing safety and solid to external shocks, and allowing for various shapes, even at ultra-compact sizes. In contrast, traditional lithium-ion batteries, which are created by rolling thin plates, can encounterwrling at the folds in ultra-compact designs. Additionally, they require additional space to accommodate internal volume expansion during charging, which limits miniaturization. SEMCO has overcome the limitations of miniaturization with its oxide-based all-solid-state battery. Similar to the MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor) process, by printing thin layers of electrode and solid electrolyte materials, stacking them alternately, and cutting them, the manufacturing process preventswrinkling. In addition, the volume change during charging is minimal, eliminating the need for extra space, and there is no requirement for the separator typically needed in lithium-ion batteries, successfully enabling ultra-compact design. SEMCO has leveraged its expertise from MLCC manufacturing in developing the oxide-based small all- solid electrolyte battery. Numerous patents related to oxide-based all- solid electrolyte batteries have been secured by SEMCO in preparation for commercialization, with over 40 patents filed internationally in the past three years. The Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC), a core component in electronic devices that controls the stable current flow within electronic circuits, is essential for products such as smartphones, home appliances, and automobiles. The powertrain requires high reliability for internal components as the internal operating temperature can rise up to 150°C due to high power consumption and heat generation from powering the core driving system of a vehicle, such as the engine of an internal combustion engine (ICE) or the motor of an electric vehicle (EV). In an environment above the guaranteed temperature, MLCCs tend to lose their capacitance to store energy. In general, 85? for IT devices and 125? for electric equipment are guaranteed but a 150? guarantee is required for the powertrain. The newly developed MLCCs are capable of normal operation without reduced capacitance even in an extreme environment of 150?. Due to technical complexities involving raw material development and construction technology, this type of product is currently produced only by a small number of companies. The electrification of automobiles has fueled the demand for small-size, high-performance, and high-reliability MLCCs. Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 11th that it has developed 13 types of automotive MLCCs with guaranteed use in a 150? environment with plans to supply them to global auto parts manufacturers. High-reliability automotive MLCCs with guaranteed use at 150? have been produced only by some companies, but with this development, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will step up its efforts to expand its market share by increasing its product competitiveness with an extended lineup of automotive components. The new products come in various sizes and capacitances, ranging from the 3225 size that is 3.2mm wide and 2.5mm long with a high-capacitance of 22uF (microfarad) to the smaller 1608 size with 220nF (nanofarad). The Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC), a core component in electronic devices that controls the stable current flow within electronic circuits, is essential for products such as smartphones, home appliances, and automobiles. The powertrain requires high reliability for internal components as the internal operating temperature can rise up to 150°C due to high power consumption and heat generation from powering the core driving system of a vehicle, such as the engine of an internal combustion engine (ICE) or the motor of an electric vehicle (EV). In an environment above the guaranteed temperature, MLCCs tend to lose their capacitance to store energy. In general, 85? for IT devices and 125? for electric equipment are guaranteed but a 150? guarantee is required for the powertrain. The newly developed MLCCs are capable of normal operation without reduced capacitance even in an extreme environment of 150?. Due to technical complexities involving raw material development and construction technology, this type of product is currently produced only by a small number of companies. The electrification of automobiles has fueled the demand for small-size, high-performance, and high-reliability MLCCs. The automotive MLCC market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9% in line with the efficient fuel consumption of ICE vehicles and EVs and the increasing number of sensors and electronic control units (ECUs) for motor control.

(KOSE:A009150) is seeking to sell its Wi-Fi module business again, a company official said on August 23, 2021, after its previous deal collapsed in May 2021. "We are in talks with a potential buyer over the sale of our Wi-Fi module business," the official said on condition of anonymity. "The Wi-Fi module business is operating normally. So far, nothing has been confirmed about the deal." Samsung Electro-Mechanics reportedly put its Wi-Fi module business units in South Korea and Thailand up for sale.
