Skyworks Solutions, Inc. Introduces New Family of Digital Radio Coprocessors for Automotive Infotainment Systems Skyworks Solutions, Inc. introduced the Si469xx family of automotive digital radio coprocessors for future in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. With its combination of integration, flexibility and low cost, the Si469xx family of coprocessors is optimized to operate with Skyworks' Si479xx Hybrid Software Defined Radio (SDR) Tuners to achieve a cost-effective digital radioceiver. The new Si469xx product family can demodulate and decode up to four digital radio channels supporting HD Radio, DAB/DAB+, DRM (for AM and FM), and CDR, providing high performance and unmatched scalability. The Si469xx product family supports advanced capabilities such as Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) and seamless linking of digital radio, analog radio and Internet Protocol content. With its integrated customer-programmable microcontroller (MCU), the Si469xx can significantly reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs by eliminating the need for an external MCU and its support components. Software design is simplified through several improvements, including a Demod/Tuner Manager that relieves system developers from having to program low-level radio control functions. As of June 2022, over 59% of all new vehicles delivered in the U.S. contain a factory-installed HD Radio receiver as reported by Inside Radio1. While WorldDAB2, the international association promoting the global adoption of this digital radio transmission standard, notes that in 2022, 96% of new cars sold within the European Union were equipped with DAB+. Radios in automobiles have historically been implemented in the head unit (HU) or cockpit system located in the dashboard. However, increasingly radio tuners are implemented in a separate module, often as a remote tuner module (RTM). The RTM offers benefits including reduced cable weight and the ability to design and qualify the radio for use across car models, which decouples it from the evolution of the HU/cockpit system. The cable weight reductions are a result of replacing RF coaxial cabling to the HU with a much lighter twisted pair cabling, typically accomplished with ADI A2B™ technology, which is optimized for automotive digital audio applications, or ethernet. By leveraging separate tuner and coprocessor ICs, Skyworks offers an optimal balance between partitioning and integration, which helps solve thermal challenges associated with RTM applications. This also provides robust scalability and configurability to address multiple regions and performance points. System designers can create a single board design that can be populated with different pin/package and software API compatible devices. Anuncio • Jul 25

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. Announces the Evolution of its Si5332 Family of High-Performance Clock Generators Skyworks Solutions, Inc. announced the evolution of its Si5332 family of high-performance clock generators, supporting the industry transition to PCI Express Generation 6 (PCIe 6.0). According to PCI-SIG, new applications including artificial intelligence, machine learning and edge computing are driving the need for higher performance and increased bandwidth interconnects for compute, switching and storage platforms in data centers(1) . The Si5332 product family from Skyworks supports PCIe 6.0 while maintaining backwards compatibility with older PCIe standards. PCIe 6.0 increases data rates to 64GT/s and enables bandwidths as high as 256Gbps, effectively doubling the performance of PCIe 5.0. This latest upgrade to the PCIe standard ensures the high-speed interconnects used in data center applications do not become a bottleneck and complements the industry's transition to 400G and 800G Ethernet. Unlike prior generations of the PCIe standard that used NRZ signalling, PCIe 6.0 uses PAM4 modulation to combine two bits into a single symbol with four amplitude levels. This approach doubles the transfer speed but degrades the eye diagram by replacing a single, large data eye with three smaller data eyes. Using a low jitter PCIe reference clock maximizes the PAM4 data eye opening and minimizes bit-error rate, which is necessary for faster transfer speeds. The Si5332's any-frequency clock synthesis, low jitter operation and support for PCIe 6.0 makes it ideally suited to replace fixed function oscillators, clocks and buffers with a single IC. The device features Skyworks proprietary MultiSynth(TM) fractional divider technology, which provides any-frequency synthesis and excellent jitter performance. The Si5332 is available in 6, 8 and 12-output options, with support for integrated format/level translation, LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL and LVCMOS, and 1.8-3.3V VDDO operation. When combined with support for PCIe 6.0, the Si5332 is well suited to operate as a data center clock-tree-on-a-chip, replacing multiple timing components with a highly integrated, high- performance solution. Device samples are available now. In addition to this Si5332 product announcement, Skyworks announced PCIe 6.0 support in its PCIe Jitter Tool. Long regarded as the industry standard for measuring PCIe clocks and evaluating compliance to PCIe jitter specs, the PCIe Jitter Tool now allows users to take accurate jitter measurements on PCIe 6.0 reference clocks.Skyworks will be exhibiting at the Consumer Electronics Show Booth No. 10850, taking place in Las Vegas from Jan. 5-8, 2023. Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and Xilinx, Inc. Enable 5G Across Newly Available C-band Spectrum Skyworks Solutions, Inc. together with Xilinx, Inc. recently demonstrated compliance with 3GPP linearity and bandwidth requirements for C-band signals that are critical for enabling next-generation 5G infrastructure. The 280 MHz instantaneous bandwidth (IBW) solution that was demonstrated by the companies uses a Xilinx Zynq RFSoC Gen 3 and a Skyworks SKY66523-11 high-efficiency power amplifier (PA). The demo is available via video by visiting the Xilinx Xclusive Blog. The SKY66523-11 wide instantaneous bandwidth high-efficiency PA has an operational frequency range of 3550 to 4200 MHz and is ideal for use as both a C-band 5G NR small cell PA and as a driver amplifier for Massive MIMO and macro base stations. U.S. C-band spectrum refers to mid-band frequencies in the range of 3.7 GHz to 3.98 GHz, which are optimal for 5G because they provide the right balance of geographic coverage, capacity and speed. At nearly $81 billion, the recent U.S. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) auction of 280 MHz C-band spectrum was the highest-value spectrum sale in history. The first portion of the C-band spectrum, referred to as “A-block,” is expected to be available by the end of this year. In anticipation of deploying as soon as the A-block spectrum becomes available, OEMs are already in the process of designing C-band systems. B-block and C-block spectrums are expected to be available by the end of 2023. The demo incorporating the SKY66523-11 PA and the Xilinx Adaptable SoC shows multiple scenarios covering the full 280 MHz C-band spectrum with an occupied bandwidth (OBW) of up to 200 MHz, which is the maximum bandwidth won by any operator during the recent auction. In all scenarios, the combined Skyworks/Xilinx solution achieved Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) compliance, a critical requirement of the 5G specification, making this combination ready for immediate A-block deployment and future B-block and C-block deployments. The Xilinx Zynq RFSoC Gen 3 is in full production and contains the direct RF transceivers along with the adaptable CFR (Crest Factor Reduction) and DPD (Digital Pre-Distortion) IP. The SKY66523-11 is part of a 5 × 5 mm pin-to-pin compatible family of PAs supporting major 3GPP bands and is sampling now. Reported Earnings • May 02
