Artelo jumps 21% as publication highlights pre-clinical data on drug platform

Nano-cap stock Artelo Biosciences (NASDAQ:ARTL) added ~21% in the morning hours Tuesday after the clinical-stage pharma announced the recent publication of preclinical data supporting the potential of its FABP inhibitor therapeutic platform in anxiety-related disorders. The research led by academics Taygun C. Uzuneser, Ph.D., and Steven R. Laviolette, Ph.D., at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, is based on one of Artelo’s (ARTL) FABP inhibitors. As published in the journal Cerebral Cortex, the pre-clinical indicate that a fatty acid binding protein 5 (FABP5) inhibitor from ARTL’s FABP inhibitor platform lessens the anxiety behaviors in a section of the brain important for anxiety. In addition, the research highlights the prospects of modulation of the FABP5 system as a target in developing novel anxiolytics. “This new data further supports the development of our FABP inhibitor platform in anxiety-related disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder,” Chief Executive of Artelo (ARTL) Gregory D. Phase Ia/Ib clinical trial of Artelo’s ART27.13 compound is fully enrolled and final data could be available for year-end 2022, providing proof of efficacy among cancer patients suffering from anorexia. Capital raise in late 2021 has provided sufficient capital resources to support Artelo through the completion of the required Phase II clinical trials for its ART27.13. Using potential competitors and peers with publicly traded stock to provide comparable valuation metrics, ARTL is found to have intrinsic value well above its current stock price.
