New minor risk - Shareholder dilution The company's shareholders have been diluted in the past year. Increase in shares outstanding: 6.0% This is considered a minor risk. Shareholder dilution occurs when there is an increase in the number of shares on issue that is not proportionally distributed between all shareholders. Often due to the company raising equity capital or some options being converted into stock. All else being equal, if there are more shares outstanding then each existing share will be entitled to a lower proportion of the company's total earnings, thus reducing earnings per share (EPS). While dilution might not always result in lower EPS (like if the company is using the capital to fund an EPS accretive acquisition) in a lot cases it does, along with lower dividends per share and less voting power at shareholder meetings. Currently, the following risks have been identified for the company: Major Risks Less than 1 year of cash runway based on free cash flow trend (-AU$3.9m free cash flow). Biome Australia Limited Announces Clinical Development Update Biome Australia offering clinically-proven condition-specific probiotic products. Biome is supporting novel clinical research to cement and extend the evidence base of its probiotic products. The current ongoing clinical trials are being conducted by Biome's academic research partners La Trobe University and Federation University. Expanding the evidence base of Biome's products is key to increasing health professional trust in product efficacy. This strengthens one of Biome's key strategies, which is to promote the recommendation of its products alongside prescription medications for specific health concerns in order to improve patient outcomes. This level of research also solidifies Biome's competitive advantage and will support commercial growth opportunities for the business. Probiotics - a fast growing market: There is a strong body of literature supporting probiotic efficacy across multiple health conditions, elevating their position within conventional medicine settings. However, this evidence base requires deeper investigation which is specific to its intended application outside of general gastrointestinal health. Live biotherapeutics are the next stage of development within the probiotic category, which involves the development of targeted strains of live probiotic bacteria that support specific pathological processes and disease states. Clinical Trial Programs: The clinical trial programs currently underway will expand the evidence of efficacy of existing products to support new and more specific applications. This research is helping to increase the validity of a number of non-pharmaceutical based interventions for key chronic health conditions with reduced side effects and lower risk profiles. Biome's Activated Probiotics range has 13 condition targeted probiotics ranging from eczema, bone health, asthma and other conditions that are traditionally supported by prescription medications and community pharmacies. Group I - 28 subjects: Placebo /Control Group Group II - 30 subjects: A dietary supplement containing probiotics (Bifidobacterium breve BR03, Lacticaseibacillus casei LC03, and Ligilactobacillus salivarius LS03) & botanical extract (lupeol from Solanum melongena L. and Echinacea extract) Group III - 29 subjects: A botanical extract alone containing lupeol from Solanum melongena L. and Echinacea extract Group IV - 27 subjects: A probiotic alone containing Bifidobacterium breve BR03, Lacticaseibacillus casei LC03, Ligilactobacillus salivarius LS03 The clinical results pertinent to Biome Australia are solely those reported on Group IV vs Control Group and cement Biome's decision to proceed with the launch of Biome AcneTM Probiotic in Fourth Quarter 2022. Group IV results (probiotics alone) Using the global acne grading system (GAGS) score, results from Group IV vs Control Group showed that at week 4, there was a 31.11% (p < 0.05) decrease in the number of superficial inflammatory acne lesions in the subjects taking probiotics compared to placebo (-10%) and at 8 weeks there was a 38.89% (p < 0.05) decrease vs placebo (18.89% decrease). The mean erythema score was significantly reduced after 8 weeks of treatment with probiotics (T0 1.82 ± 0.06 vs T2 0.73 ± 0.74, p < 0.05), while no reduction was reported in the placebo Group. There was also a significant reduction in the abundance of the main bacteria implicated in the pathogenesis of acne, Cutibacterium acnes (26.8 vs 21.7 log RA, p < 0.01), in those in Group IV at the end of the study, providing evidence for the ability of this oral probiotic to impact the skin microbiome. Group II and Group III also reported a decrease in the number of superficial inflammatory acne lesions at 8 weeks recording -56.67% and -40% respectively. The two Groups also reported a significantly reduced sebum secretion rate and mean erythema score of 0.27 ± 0.45 (p < 0.05) for Group II and 0.50 ± 0.63 (p < 0.05) for Group III. Biome Australia Limited Provides Clinical Trial Results on Asthma Sufferers Validates Biome Probiotic Biome Australia Limited provided clinical trial results following the recent publication of a successful study completed in Italy using the probiotic strains in the company's Biome BreatheTM Probiotic on pediatric asthma patients. The results of the Probiotic in Pediatric Asthma Management (PROPAM) Study have now been published in the Journal of Immunology Research and clinically validate the company's Biome BreatheTM Probiotic product making it one of the first probiotics globally to be scientifically proven to show an improvement in the symptoms of asthma in children. This randomised placebo-controlled double-blind clinical trial assessed the efficacy of two specific probiotic strains in Biome BreatheTM Probiotic, L. salivarius LS01 and B. breve B632, in reducing the symptoms of asthma in 422 children over an eight-week period in primary care settings, such as GP clinics. This clinical trial is the independent research supporting the efficacy of Biome Australia's Biome BreatheTM Probiotic, which was released into the Australian market following the receipt of promising pre-publication results. Biome BreatheTM Probiotic contains this combination of probiotic strains and is available across Australia in over 2300 community pharmacies and independent health practitioners. In the study, fifty (23.8%) children in the placebo group experienced at least one asthma exacerbation compared to 19 (9%) in the active group. Seventeen (8.1%) children of the placebo group and 5 (2.4%) in the active group had two asthma exacerbations. In total, there were 67 asthma exacerbations in the placebo group and 24 in the active group, which correlates to a 64.2% reduction in asthma exacerbations in the group taking probiotics. Children in the placebo group had a higher probability of having at least one asthma exacerbation than children in the probiotic arm, which had a statistical significance of p < 0.001 (OR 3.17, 95% CI 1.85.6). In addition, children in the placebo group were more likely to have two exacerbations than children in the active group (OR 3.65, 95% CI 1.3210.08; p = 0:013). Recent Insider Transactions • Dec 01
