Dynavax Technologies Corporation Beat Analyst Estimates: See What The Consensus Is Forecasting For Next Year
It's been a good week for Dynavax Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:DVAX) shareholders, because the company has just released its latest third-quarter results, and the shares gained 5.6% to US$10.83. Revenues were US$95m, approximately in line with whatthe analysts expected, although statutory earnings per share (EPS) crushed expectations, coming in at US$0.21, an impressive 80% ahead of estimates. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. With this in mind, we've gathered the latest statutory forecasts to see what the analysts are expecting for next year.
Taking into account the latest results, the consensus forecast from Dynavax Technologies' four analysts is for revenues of US$391.0m in 2026. This reflects a solid 18% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Earnings are expected to improve, with Dynavax Technologies forecast to report a statutory profit of US$0.55 per share. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$390.5m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.56 in 2026. So it looks like there's been a small decline in overall sentiment after the recent results - there's been no major change to revenue estimates, but the analysts did make a minor downgrade to their earnings per share forecasts.

The consensus price target held steady at US$22.80, with the analysts seemingly voting that their lower forecast earnings are not expected to lead to a lower stock price in the foreseeable future. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Dynavax Technologies at US$32.00 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$11.00. Note the wide gap in analyst price targets? This implies to us that there is a fairly broad range of possible scenarios for the underlying business.
Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. It's clear from the latest estimates that Dynavax Technologies' rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 14% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2026 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 5.2% p.a. over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 21% per year. It seems obvious that, while the future growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, Dynavax Technologies is expected to grow slower than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for Dynavax Technologies. Fortunately, the analysts also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Although our data does suggest that Dynavax Technologies' revenue is expected to perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Dynavax Technologies going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here..
