Earnings Miss: Dometic Group AB (publ) Missed EPS By 14% And Analysts Are Revising Their Forecasts

Published
OM:DOM

It's been a good week for Dometic Group AB (publ) (STO:DOM) shareholders, because the company has just released its latest second-quarter results, and the shares gained 5.3% to kr73.75. It was not a great result overall. While revenues of kr7.7b were in line with analyst predictions, earnings were less than expected, missing statutory estimates by 14% to hit kr1.39 per share. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. We've gathered the most recent statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their earnings models, following these results.

OM:DOM Earnings and Revenue Growth July 21st 2024

Taking into account the latest results, Dometic Group's seven analysts currently expect revenues in 2024 to be kr26.1b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are predicted to rise 6.5% to kr3.93. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of kr26.4b and earnings per share (EPS) of kr4.42 in 2024. The analysts seem to have become more bearish following the latest results. While there were no changes to revenue forecasts, there was a substantial drop in EPS estimates.

The consensus price target held steady at kr90.00, with the analysts seemingly voting that their lower forecast earnings are not expected to lead to a lower stock price in the foreseeable future. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on Dometic Group, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at kr110 and the most bearish at kr65.00 per share. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. We would highlight that revenue is expected to reverse, with a forecast 2.2% annualised decline to the end of 2024. That is a notable change from historical growth of 13% over the last five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the same industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 3.9% annually for the foreseeable future. It's pretty clear that Dometic Group's revenues are expected to perform substantially worse than the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for Dometic Group. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.

Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Dometic Group going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here..
