How Strong Is Korea Aerospace Industries' Balance Sheet?

Zooming in on the latest balance sheet data, we can see that Korea Aerospace Industries had liabilities of ₩4.48t due within 12 months and liabilities of ₩1.08t due beyond that. On the other hand, it had cash of ₩540.7b and ₩381.2b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities total ₩4.64t more than the combination of its cash and short-term receivables.

This is a mountain of leverage relative to its market capitalization of ₩5.60t. Should its lenders demand that it shore up the balance sheet, shareholders would likely face severe dilution. But either way, Korea Aerospace Industries has virtually no net debt, so it's fair to say it does not have a heavy debt load!

When we consider all the elements mentioned above, it seems to us that Korea Aerospace Industries is managing its debt quite well. But a word of caution: we think debt levels are high enough to justify ongoing monitoring. When analysing debt levels, the balance sheet is the obvious place to start.
