Is Now The Time To Put BF Utilities (NSE:BFUTILITIE) On Your Watchlist?
It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.
So if this idea of high risk and high reward doesn't suit, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like BF Utilities (NSE:BFUTILITIE). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.
BF Utilities' Earnings Per Share Are Growing
If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS) outcomes. Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. BF Utilities' shareholders have have plenty to be happy about as their annual EPS growth for the last 3 years was 56%. Growth that fast may well be fleeting, but it should be more than enough to pique the interest of the wary stock pickers.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. We note that while EBIT margins have improved from 51% to 64%, the company has actually reported a fall in revenue by 9.8%. That's not a good look.

BF Utilities offered total compensation worth ₹14m to its CEO in the year to March 2024. That is actually below the median for CEO's of similarly sized companies.
