While it may not be enough for some shareholders, we think it is good to see the Net-a-Go Technology Company Limited (HKG:1483) share price up 19% in a single quarter. But if you look at the last five years the returns have not been good. You would have done a lot better buying an index fund, since the stock has dropped 39% in that half decade.

After losing 13% this past week, it's worth investigating the company's fundamentals to see what we can infer from past performance.

Because Net-a-Go Technology made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally expect to see good revenue growth. That's because fast revenue growth can be easily extrapolated to forecast profits, often of considerable size.

Over half a decade Net-a-Go Technology reduced its trailing twelve month revenue by 6.4% for each year. While far from catastrophic that is not good. The share price decline at a rate of 7% per year is disappointing. Unfortunately, though, it makes sense given the lack of either profits or revenue growth. It might be worth watching for signs of a turnaround - buyers are probably expecting one.

A Different Perspective

Net-a-Go Technology shareholders are up 1.8% for the year. But that was short of the market average. But at least that's still a gain! Over five years the TSR has been a reduction of 7% per year, over five years. It could well be that the business is stabilizing. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Consider for instance, the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 1 warning sign with Net-a-Go Technology , and understanding them should be part of your investment process.
