Singulus Technologies AG (ETR:SNG) Stock Rockets 31% But Many Are Still Ignoring The Company

Published
XTRA:SNG

Singulus Technologies AG (ETR:SNG) shares have had a really impressive month, gaining 31% after a shaky period beforehand. Unfortunately, the gains of the last month did little to right the losses of the last year with the stock still down 27% over that time.

In spite of the firm bounce in price, it's still not a stretch to say that Singulus Technologies' price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.2x right now seems quite "middle-of-the-road" compared to the Machinery industry in Germany, where the median P/S ratio is around 0.5x. However, investors might be overlooking a clear opportunity or potential setback if there is no rational basis for the P/S.

How Has Singulus Technologies Performed Recently?

Singulus Technologies hasn't been tracking well recently as its declining revenue compares poorly to other companies, which have seen some growth in their revenues on average. One possibility is that the P/S ratio is moderate because investors think this poor revenue performance will turn around. However, if this isn't the case, investors might get caught out paying too much for the stock.

Keen to find out how analysts think Singulus Technologies' future stacks up against the industry? In that case, our free report is a great place to start.

How Is Singulus Technologies' Revenue Growth Trending?

Singulus Technologies' P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver moderate growth, and importantly, perform in line with the industry.

Taking a look back first, the company's revenue growth last year wasn't something to get excited about as it posted a disappointing decline of 17%. However, a few very strong years before that means that it was still able to grow revenue by an impressive 146% in total over the last three years. Although it's been a bumpy ride, it's still fair to say the revenue growth recently has been more than adequate for the company.

Shifting to the future, estimates from the two analysts covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 30% per year over the next three years. With the industry only predicted to deliver 4.3% per annum, the company is positioned for a stronger revenue result.

With this in consideration, we find it intriguing that Singulus Technologies' P/S is closely matching its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders are skeptical of the forecasts and have been accepting lower selling prices.

What Does Singulus Technologies' P/S Mean For Investors?

Singulus Technologies appears to be back in favour with a solid price jump bringing its P/S back in line with other companies in the industry We'd say the price-to-sales ratio's power isn't primarily as a valuation instrument but rather to gauge current investor sentiment and future expectations.

Despite enticing revenue growth figures that outpace the industry, Singulus Technologies' P/S isn't quite what we'd expect. There could be some risks that the market is pricing in, which is preventing the P/S ratio from matching the positive outlook. At least the risk of a price drop looks to be subdued, but investors seem to think future revenue could see some volatility.

We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 4 warning signs for Singulus Technologies (1 is a bit unpleasant!) that you need to be mindful of.
